There’s never a dull moment in the NBA, as the early morning news breaks that the Cavs will be moving on from Tyronn Lue after a 0-6 start to their season. Lue, who was promoted to Head Coach after the firing of David Blatt in 2016, was 128-83 with the Cavaliers, has been to three NBA Finals and was a champion in that 2016 season. With Ty Lue gone, Larry Drew will serve as the interim coach for the foreseeable future. Reasoning Behind the Firing Lue was said to be a player’s coach and was extremely respectful and partial…

A 116-79 win for Indiana was by far the most impressive and easiest win for the Pacers this Summer League. All while Aaron Holiday didn’t play, and neither did TJ Leaf. Holiday and Leaf have been the two biggest names for the Pacers this summer so far. They have had a lot of inconsistencies but still are Indiana’s go-to guys. It was the Nets inability to match the overall scoring of the entire Indiana roster that lost them this game. Indiana was hot from the field and stayed that way all night. Help from everyone on the roster was key.…

An 83-75 overtime win for Milwaukee advances them to the next round of the Summer League Tournament. It was a game that was controlled by Milwaukee until the end. The matchup was supposed to be a battle between Donte DiVincenzo and Lonnie Walker IV. However, DiVincenzo was on a minutes restriction and didn’t provide any scoring and only had 2 steals. Also, Walker injured his ankle during the game and was unable to play through it. He finished with 5 points and 9 rebounds on 2-of-9 shooting. This game was less about them and more about Christian Wood for Milwaukee…

A ginormous lead of 27 points by the Indiana Pacers seemed to push them through the next round of the Summer League tournament. Yet, the Atlanta Hawks made a tremendous comeback led by Trae Young and Tyler Dorsey to get a 107-101 win. An absolute collapse by the Pacers was caused by their poor second half shooting. Overall, Atlanta out-shot Indiana efficiency-wise in all aspects of the game. Indiana should’ve won this game due to causing more turnovers and playing better overall defense. Young and Dorsey Spark Incredible Comeback There were solid performances completely down the roster for Atlanta, but…

In a low scoring affair, the Pistons topped the Wolves 64-59. This game didn’t have much flair, as there weren’t many great performances. Overall, the Pistons controlled most of the game, leading by 19 at one point. Detroit also turned the ball over six fewer times (16 to 22) and shot much better from the charity stripe and from deep. Minnesota, however, out-rebounded Detroit 49-41 and had four more blocks. This was the reason why the Wolves were able to cut Detroit’s lead down to 5 points. Cavaliers pulled out a 93-88 win over the Indiana Pacers Monday afternoon. It was a well-performed game by both sides that saw young talents against other young talents. The game was evenly matched in almost every area of team statistics. Indiana outperformed Cleveland on the offensive glass, but Cleveland was the better shooting team. The marquee matchup in this game was Collin Sexton of the Cavs against Aaron Holiday on the Pacers. A matchup NBA Summer League was glad to see. Sexton Proving Himself While Osman Impresses Sexton has had some decent games in Summer League, but no outstanding ones.…

Not the most offensive game we’ve seen this Summer League, but this matchup could have been worse. Each team has some interesting players on their summer squads: Lakers with Moritz Wagner and Josh Hart, while the Bulls have Wendell Carter Jr., Chandler Hutchison, and Antonio Blakeney. This game fell in favor of the Lakers thanks to a big day from Josh Hart. Lakers won the game 69-60 by forcing 18 turnovers and only having 8 of their own. Hart Proving to be a Key Role Player If it wasn’t for Josh Hart and his range, the Lakers may not…

This Summer League matchup was a tight game that ended in an 81-78 win for the Dallas Mavericks. Unfortunately for both teams, their most intriguing starter was unable to play. For Dallas, that’s Luka Doncic because of a Real Madrid contract conflict. For Milwaukee, Donte DiVincenzo was not able to play because of an injury suffered earlier in the week to his right groin. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean there weren’t great performances from each of their teammates. Motley and DSJ Key in Victory Johnathan Motley showed why he deserves some minutes this NBA season. The young power forward/center put in…

An extremely close game the whole way through, the Grizzlies top the Pacers 73-70. Memphis was able to win this close game with stout rebounding (41-34) and an incredible blocking display, knocking away 12 shots to Detroit’s 1. That was all the difference in this game. There were a few nice performances, but inefficiency all around on both squads. The performance of the night has to go to Wayne Selden, as he shot 53.3% on 8-15 shooting, totaling 20 points and 4 rebounds. Wayne Selden Shines as Performer of the Game Selden looked like an elite scorer on Saturday. He did…

In Saturday’s action of NBA Summer League, the Spurs fell to the Pacers 86-76. In a fairly tight game statistically, it was the third quarter that cost San Antonio the game. Spurs only scored 8 points in the quarter while Indiana dropped 22. TJ Leaf was Indiana’s best player in this game while teammate Aaron Holiday struggled. The Spurs’ young stars had nice stat lines, but were inefficient from the field. TJ Leaf Leads Indiana Leaf finished with 17 points on 7-13 shooting, but only 1-of-4 from deep. It was still a great bounce-back game after struggling the day…
