It was announced that Lamar Jackson would become the full-time starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, sending Joe Flacco to the bench for the first time in his career. This is the end of an era in Baltimore. Since joining the Ravens in 2008, Joe Flacco has taken the team to the playoffs six times and delivered a Super Bowl championship in 2013. But it’s apparently out with the old and in with the new, as rookie Lamar Jackson has been given the keys to the family car. The Ravens have said they will send Flacco out “with class,” whatever…

University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is electric. This is someone who can make impossible throws, both in the pocket and out, and has breakaway speed as a rusher. It is because of this that Murray currently has a completion percentage of 70.3, 34 passing touchdowns, a passer efficiency rating of 205.8, and 10 rushing touchdowns. But what if I told you that Murray has his sights on playing Major League Baseball, as he was drafted 9th overall this past summer by the Oakland Athletics as an outfielder. But here’s the thing, Kyler Murray should think about playing football long-term.…

Derek Carr was drafted in 2014 to put an end to years of Raiders’ quarterback struggles. The list of quarterbacks that preceded Carr is almost as comical as the Cleveland Browns, especially when you see the likes of JaMarcus Russell, Terrelle Pryor and Bruce Gradkowski who ironically came from the Browns. But Derek Carr was different. Derek Carr had a very good collegiate career at Fresno State. In his final season in 2013, Carr led the FBS with 50 touchdown passes and was ranked by many as the best pure passer in the entire draft. Fast forward to today, and…

The New York Football Giants have an Eli Manning-sized problem on their hands. The quarterback who has won them two Super Bowls is now holding back the Giants. The Boiling Point The point at which the whole world was exposed to just how bad things had gotten in New York was the Giants’ Thursday night game at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. The spotlight was on Eli and company to perform, and let’s just say things did not go great. Against Carson Wentz and the Eagles, Manning went 24-43 for 281 yards, 0 touchdownss and 1 interception. Eli’s performance…

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter announced that Jameis Winston would be the team’s starting quarterback for week 6 after the team goes on a week 5 bye. Thus, bringing an end to Ryan Fitzpatrick and his magical run of starts known as “FitzMagic.” Making The Bucs Relevant Again The work that Fitzpatrick did the first couple weeks of the 2018 season cannot be understated. The man (who went to Harvard by the way) singlehandedly made Tampa Bay Buccaneers football a national topic of conversation. Every sports talk show, radio show, and pundit on Twitter was talking about Fitzpatrick…

On Thursday Night Football against the Jets, the world saw Baker Mayfield in a regular season NFL game for the first time. The results were spectacular, thus leading to a phenomenon which I have called the “Baker Mayfield effect.” Tyrod Taylor Tyrod Taylor started the game for the Browns. His throws were off line, he didn’t look comfortable in the pocket, and the only time he was able to make plays was when he was using his legs. Browns fans weren’t having any of this, especially when he would make throws to invisible receivers. https://twitter.com/SomeonesAnIdiot/status/1042953270724096000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1042953270724096000&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nflanalysis.net%2Fbrowns-2018-baker-mayfield-show-good%2F Then, with around three…

Say what you want about Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, but he is nothing if not loyal. Reports are that during this past offseason, with trade rumors circling the star tight end, Gronkowski told the Patriots that he would rather hang up his cleats than play for another team. Offseason Rumors I want to take you back to Gronkowski’s post game interview following the Patriots 41-33 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 52. Gronkowski has taken a beating during his time in the NFL. It seems as if every week the man is on the injury report with…

In what was probably the most bizarre story I’ve seen come out of the NFL in some time, Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks was accused by the federal government of engaging in an illegal insider trading plot. Together with his financial partner Damilare Sonoiki, Kendricks turned $80,000 into $1.2 million in just four months, which amounts to a 1,500 percent return on investment. Not too shabby. The details of this story are wild, and I’m sure it won’t be long before this is turned into a Hollywood movie. In fact, when they do get around to turning this whole thing into a…

People who know me know that I am a ginormous Baker Mayfield fan dating back to his first season at Oklahoma. Don’t be surprised if I find creative ways to write about him and his exploits this season while a member of the Cleveland Browns. That being said, last night during the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles game, we almost saw the beginning of the Baker Mayfield era. The Play Allow me to set the scene. The Browns were marching down the field and making short work of the Eagles Super Bowl winning defense. Near the end zone with…
