Fantasy Football Week 13 Defense Streamers

Indianapolis Colts (20.2%)

The Indianapolis Colts lack depth of talent and good scheming compared to many NFL defenses. However, they have a number of studs, particularly up front, who are capable of wrecking opposing offenses in the trenches. Zaire Franklin is a beast in the middle of this Colts defense. Meanwhile, after dealing with injuries earlier in the year, DeForest Buckner has recorded a sack in three of the last five games. As a team, the Colts have registered at least three sacks in three of the last four contests and multiple sacks in every game dating back to Week 7.

There’s good reason to believe that the Colts can win up front again on Sunday in their Week 13 fantasy football streamers matchup against the New England Patriots. While Drake Maye has provided the Pats with some signs of life and hope for the future, this is still a bad offense. Indy has had a tough time keeping teams from putting up points and forcing turnovers. The opportunity to go against a rookie QB who has forced some passes elevates the likelihood of coming away with an interception or two. So long as the Colts can contain the run, a weak secondary should be able to contain a middling Patriots passing attack.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (47.6%)

After completely shutting down one “Tommy Cutlets” and the hapless New York Giants last weekend, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers return to our Week 13 fantasy football defense streamers column ahead of another promising matchup. While the Bucs have certainly had their issues on defense this season, they have been able to capitalize when facing the league’s weaker offenses. Last week’s near shutout marked the third time this season that Tampa has scored double-digit fantasy points on defense.

On Sunday, Todd Bowles’ group will get their first of two late-season matchups against the Carolina Panthers. To their credit, the Panthers have limited the damage done by opposing fantasy defenses a lot better than they did a year ago. We must also acknowledge that Bryce Young has been playing a lot better since being benched earlier in the year, even with a bare-bones group of pass-catchers. Even so, Carolina’s O-line will have their work cut out trying to win up front against Vita Vea. The Bucs’ weakness defensively has been against the pass, but even the improved version of Young doesn’t figure to be fully capable of exploiting this.

New York Jets (43.5%)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Coming into the year, the New York Jets were believed to be one of, if not the best defense in the NFL. While there is still plenty of talent adorning this unit, the Jets have severely underwhelmed, especially in recent weeks. I suppose you could say “underwhelming” has largely been the theme of the entire Jets team this season. We are banking on a needed bye last week and the players having enough pride to close strong with our choice to include them among the Week 13 fantasy football streamers.

For the record, the fact that the Jets’ defense even has an ownership percentage low enough to be included in the streaming conversation is wild compared to what was expected of this group. On Sunday, New York gets a home game against a Seattle Seahawks bunch that is coming off of back-to-back divisional wins. A cross-country flight makes for a tricky scheduling spot, and the Seahawks have quietly given up the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses. We’ll bank on a bounce-back effort and a Geno Smith turnover to help elevate the Jets to a solid fantasy output.
