Much like last year, injuries have been the story of the Philadelphia Eagles’ season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Nearly all of Carson Wentz’s pass-catchers have sustained some type of injury. However, Eagles fans did get a bit of optimistic news for Sunday Night Football. This is news that Dallas Goedert fantasy owners will also be delighted to hear.
Dallas Goedert Injury Update
In Week 3, Goedert suffered a high ankle sprain and a small fracture in his tibia. This was a massive loss to the offense, as it was clear they had plans to feature the talented tight end. He saw 17 targets though the first two weeks. Goedert caught 12 of them for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Goedert told the media that he’s “feeling good” after resuming practice. He appeared to be upping his reps every single day. Clearly, Goedert did enough to prove to both himself and the medical staff that he is good to go for this must-win matchup.
Dallas Goedert Fantasy Value
Dallas Goedert fantasy owners will see their patience, or their timely waiver claim, with him pay off. Goedert started the year off with a bang, being TE1 in Week 1. He was a featured part of the offense, as mentioned previously, and there’s zero reason why this will not continue. On top of him being immensely talented and clearly in the Eagles’ future plans, Zach Ertz is also out, so Goedert will see as many snaps and targets as he can handle.
The matchup with the Dallas Cowboys is also a sweet one. The Cowboys give up the 10th-most fantasy points to the tight end position this season. With games against Seattle, Arizona and Washington, it’s clearly they have not faced the cream of the crop at the position either.
Goedert is an easy TE1 play for me the rest of the season. For this week, he is ranked as my TE5 in my Week 8 PPR fantasy rankings.
