Losers Houston Rockets Not only did the Rockets already lose Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns, but Luc Mbah a Moute and Joe Johnson are unrestricted free agents and Clint Capela is a restricted free agent, who is looking to make a HUGE payday this offseason. The Rockets re-signed Chris Paul to a massive four-year, $160 million contract. Granted, they basically had to do this if they wanted to beat the Warriors, but it has already cost them a key role player and the damage may not be done yet. To make matters worse, the same team that missed 27…

Marvin Bagley III followed up his solid performance on Monday night with a dud in Tuesday night’s NBA Summer League matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Kings ultimately lost 71-54 to the Warriors. Marvin Bagley III’s Struggles Bagley III had a rough night, scoring just 7 points on 3-16 shooting from the field. He also missed all five of his three-point attempts. Despite grabbing 7 rebounds and rejecting two shots, Bagley III’s defense left a lot to be desired, as he looked outmatched by both Jordan Bell and Damian Jones. It was just Bagley’s second NBA game, but…

The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers NBA Summer League game was a bit of a dud last night, as it was an 89-73 rout for the Heat. However, the game still had its intrigue as two unlikely stars for the Heat emerged in this game. Who is Derrick Jones Jr? Derrick Jones Jr. has been an absolute stud in the NBA Summer League for the Heat. He is averaging 22.5 points per game in his two appearances. Last night, he put up 21 points with 8-14 shooting from the field. He also snagged 5 rebounds, earned 3 steals,…

The 76ers filled their remaining cap room by trading for Nuggets SF Wilson Chandler, a 2021 second-round pick, and the option to swap 2022 second-round picks for minimal cash considerations. Due to the fact that Chandler’s $12.8M contract is being completely absorbed by the 76ers, Chandler can be traded immediately. Of course, Chandler is a player who does a little bit of everything and would be a great bench player for the 76ers to maintain their length when Simmons and Embiid are resting. The issue with Wilson may be his production, as he only averaged 10 ppg despite starting 71-of-74…

Normally, a preseason Lakers vs. Kings matchup doesn’t draw the attention of many NBA fans. However, last night featured some of the best up-and-coming prospects in the NBA, and there were some very impressive performances. Here is a breakdown of what we saw. Marvin Bagley III vs. Moritz Wagner In theory, the second overall pick going up against the 25th overall shouldn’t be much of a contest, but Moritz Wagner held his own against Marvin Bagley III. Wagner may have shot just 6-18 from the field (2-9 from three), but he hit 9-10 free throws and finished with 23…

The wait is finally over! LeBron James made it official and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. The contract is four-year deal worth $154M. This move obviously has implications around the league. While many knew the King was going to depart from Cleveland, fans across the league believed he was bound for their city. Fortunately for Laker fans, LeBron will follow as the next all-time great player to play for this historic franchise. With LeBron now in the West, it doesn’t matter who else is on his team, because the entire Western Conference will be a bloodbath. With the OK3…

Everyone is wondering where LeBron will go, should he choose to leave, but there have not been many considerations made about the Cavaliers and the direction the franchise should move in should their worst fears be realized. Obviously if the King stays, the Cavs should be considered contenders in the East, but to discuss that option is boring since the Cavaliers consist of overpaid players that, at best, would get swept again by Golden State. Here is a proposed gameplan for the Cavaliers if/when LeBron packs his bags for elsewhere. Step 1: Decide Who’s Worth Keeping The Cavaliers without LeBron…

Trade Breakdown: Dallas gets: 3rd overall pick (Luka Doncic) Atlanta gets: 5th overall pick (Trae Young), future first overall pick This trade is surprising, but at the same time the Hawks have been weighing options for the third overall pick for some time. Trae Young is the first player to lead the NCAA in both points and assists per game. Meanwhile, Doncic is the most talented international player who won league MVP in his European league. The Hawks are not going to be able to turn things around in just one season and Young will not be able to…

Well, it is official: Kawhi Leonard has asked to be moved from San Antonio. This move, while a bit surprising, has been in the making for some time and will certainly change the landscape of the NBA. Here a few possible landing spots that the Spurs may look to move Leonard to. Boston Celtics The Celtics reportedly probed the Spurs about a possible trade for Leonard in February. Personally, I think Danny will roll with his core guys (Irving, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, and Horford) unless he can execute a deal involving Terry Rozier or one of the many protected…

1. Suns — DeAndre Ayton, Arizona Many believe that DeAndre Ayton will be the first overall pick and for good reason. Ayton is the best fit for Phoenix AND the best overall talent in the draft. Phoenix is currently starting 35-year-old Tyson Chandler, and their next best big man is either Dragan Bender or Alex Len, but either way their frontcourt doesn’t look pretty. The Suns already have a good core of wing players with Devin Booker and Josh Jackson, so drafting another 6’6” wing player doesn’t seem like a great idea if they are committed to those two players.…
