Taking a look at the best Week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Picks, including the Indianapolis Colts.
If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 8 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans
There has not been a better story this season in the NFL than Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts. While Daniel Jones has been great, the run game for the Colts has put Jones and the receiving corps into positions to succeed. Jonathan Taylor has been the best running back in football this season and should continue that this week, as the Titans have given up 795 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns this season. Relying on the run game will continue to push the Colts forward. The Titans will have to stop the run (or try to). With the Titans placing such emphasis on the run, the Colts will still be able to attack from multiple directions, utilizing Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, and Tyler Warren.
On the offensive end for the Titans, there is nothing that really scares you as a Colts fan. Cam Ward is not in a position where he can be relied on to carry the team to victories. With virtually no run game, the Colts will be able to tee off on Ward. Not that he was a big part of their offense as it stood, but losing Tyler Lockett is just another weapon that Ward is not going to have this week. These two teams are on very different paths. The Colts look like they can contend for a Super Bowl, while the Titans look like they are heading to the number one pick again.

New England Patriots vs Cleveland Browns
The New England Patriots come into Week 8 as 6.5-point favorites over the Cleveland Browns. The Patriots are playing as good of football right now as they have had since Tom Brady was heading the ship. Much of that stems from the great play of Drake Maye and the offense as a whole. While Maye has been at the top of his game, the run game of the Patriots has helped keep that offense moving. While Cleveland’s run defense has been top-notch, Maye and the passing game will be able to take flight as well. Hunter Henry will be able to sneak behind the defense and play strong in the middle of the field. After Henry exposes the middle of the field, shots will be open to Stefon Diggs and the test of the receiving crew.
Looking at the Browns’ offense, the Patriots are going up against Dillon Gabriel this week. Probably because he is a rookie, but Gabriel is playing like a bottom-seven quarterback in the NFL this season. All the Patriots need to do this week is contain Quinshon Judkins. The rookie feels like the only spark to the offense for the Browns, so making someone else beat you is the strategy. Good thing for the Patriots, they have been great against the run this season, giving up just 413 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on the season.

Cincinnati Bengals vs New York Jets
Since picking up Joe Flacco, the Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the more interesting teams. In his first start, Flacco was able to settle in and command an offense, even in a loss to the Green Bay Packers. Following that, Flacco and Ja’Marr Chase went crazy in a divisional matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, the Bengals enter the Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets as 6.5-point favorites. Like I stated before, Chase and Flacco have seemed to find some kind of connection. As it is with sports, getting the ball to your best player oftentimes results in great things. The Bengals need to keep feeding the ball to Chase, and with Sauce Garner in concussion protocol, it looks like Chase is going to see lesser coverage this week.
The Jets are also moving to Tyrod Taylor at the starting quarterback position this week. I do think that Taylor is a better passer than Justin Fields, but it takes a lot of good football play to help support a quarterback change in the middle of the season. With questions surrounding Garrett Wilson’s injury, there is not much that really scares you on this Jets offense if you are a Bengals fan. The run game for the Jets will lack, as the Bengals have been better at stopping opposing teams’ run games lately. Even as old as he is, Flacco is still a solid starter, who will have a little easier time against the worst team in the NFL.
