A look at the Demond Claiborne NFL Draft profile, including a scouting report, his college highlights and stats, and a 2026 mock draft projection.

Although running backs are not among the highly sought-after positions in the NFL Draft, there is undeniable talent entering the league at the position this year. Demond Claiborne is perhaps one of the more underrated members of that group. He profiles as a twitchy and creative runner who is more than capable of adding an element to a team’s ground game as a change-of-pace back.

When is the 2026 NFL Draft?

The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. This year’s draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 25th. Demond Claiborne Scouting Report

Strengths

Claiborne is an explosive, twitchy running back whose elusiveness defines his playing style. He shows the ability to make defenders miss in tight spaces, using quick footwork and excellent lateral agility to create opportunities. His ability to string moves together allows him to escape contact and generate yardage even when plays appear contained.

On outside runs, Claiborne has the speed to beat defenders to the edge and the burst to accelerate quickly upfield. His playmaking ability is evident whenever he touches the ball, as he can turn broken or difficult situations into significant gains. He also brings added value as a return specialist, scoring multiple touchdowns on kick returns in college.

Weaknesses

Demond Claiborne’s size and lack of power limit his effectiveness between the tackles. While he is willing to run inside, he can struggle to break through contact and often absorbs heavy hits. This may impact his ability to consistently handle a high-volume workload at the next level.

He can also be prone to abandoning the structure of a play, relying too heavily on improvisation. While this can occasionally lead to big plays, it may lead to inconsistency and require coaching refinement. Additionally, his value on passing downs is limited, as he has struggled in pass protection and is still developing in that area.
