Much like with his teammate Drew Allar, Nick Singleton’s return for another year of college turned out to be the wrong decision as far as his draft stock is concerned. Kaytron Allen became the bona fide lead back with Singleton becoming more of an afterthought. Even though this past year certainly limited his ability to shine, there is no doubt that he will still be one of the more intriguing running backs in this draft class. Although it remains to be seen when Nick Singleton will be drafted, there is no doubt that he’ll hear his name called in the 2026 NFL Draft, so it’s about time to get to know him and how he plays.

Let’s take a look at our Nick Singleton NFL Draft profile, including his stats, scouting report, college highlights, and more!

Nick Singleton Highlights

When is the 2026 NFL Draft?

The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a football city that will provide a great backdrop for the draft festivities, but everyone is crossing their fingers that the weather cooperates. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 25th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.

Nick Singleton Scouting Report

Strengths

The top three things that Nick Singleton brings to the table are speed, speed, and more speed. He is incredibly quick and can get up to top gear in a hurry. Unlike some other running backs when they enter the league, he has also shown he’s a solid pass blocker as well and can hold his own. When he’s released in the passing game, his speed makes him an incredibly dangerous weapon as well. The one thing that most NFL teams will love about him is that he was a full-time kick returner for three years at Penn State.

With his blend of speed and experience as a returner, any team looking to shore up its special teams unit will certainly be able to find a spot for him.

Weaknesses

The weaknesses of Singleton’s game were on full display this past season. For a player with his speed, you’d expect much better elusiveness and many more broken tackles. While he’s fast, he doesn’t have many big, explosive carries. Most of that is because it seems he only has straight-line speed. He isn’t able to change speeds enough to juke out defenders or change directions quickly when a hole opens. Even though he does have great straight speed, his vision, or lack thereof, is an issue, meaning he rarely can see the hole unless it’s wide open and right in front of him. He often finds himself running straight into the defense as opposed to running around it or being patient and waiting for a lane to show itself.

As good as he can look at times, it would appear his best fit at the NFL level is more as a special teams returner than a running back.
