Use the following Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article as a guide when making those tough decisions at the quarterback position this week.

June 23, 2026

The elite quarterbacks, like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, will not be mentioned. Yes, start them. Who do they play? Doesn’t matter. Instead, we will be talking about the players who may be on the borderline of that starting lineup threshold. These are the players that you are debating on starting, or are sitting as QB2s on your bench.. So, depending on the matchup, they could be a start or a sit. Make sense?

Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 8 QBs

Start: Caleb Williams Fantasy Outlook vs Baltimore Ravens

Over the course of his second season in the NFL, there have been ups and downs for Caleb Williams when it comes to fantasy football. He has finished as a top-10 quarterback three teams and below QB20 three times. This week, though, the arrow points in his favor to finish in the prior, as the Chicago Bears take on the Baltimore Ravens. The Bears invested in their offensive line in the offseason, and that has shown, as Williams has been kept much cleaner than last season. Going against the Ravens works in favor of Williams and the Bears, as Baltimore is decimated on the defensive side of the ball.

On the season, the Ravens defense is giving up 25.7 points per game to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy football. They have given up 1,532 passing yards and 14 passing touchdowns. As has been the case since the offseason, the weapons surrounding Williams are among the best in the NFL. DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, Colston Loveland and Luther Burden are all players that anyone would want on their team. If Lamar Jackson plays this week, this could be a game where the Bears get behind and have to pass as well. Either way, Williams and the Bears’ passing game will succeed this week.

Start: Michael Penix Jr Fantasy Outlook vs Miami Dolphins

It is no secret that the jury is still out on whether Michael Penix can be the true franchise leader of the Atlanta Falcons. With a few tough matchups over the past couple of weeks, Penix has a chance to right his ship this week against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have not been the best on defense this season; in fact, they have been horrible. On the season, the Dolphins are giving up 23 points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. In total, teams have combined for 1,519 passing yards and 11 passing touchdowns.

Similar to Caleb Williams, Michael Penix certainly has the pieces around him to put up a big performance against a bad defense this week. Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts match up incredibly against Miami. There is nothing on Miami’s defense that really scares you, and after a tough loss to the 49ers last week, Atlanta will be able to get back on track this season with Penix leading the charge.

Sit: Brock Purdy/Mac Jones Fantasy Outlook vs Houston Texans

With Brock Purdy practicing in limited fashion this week, there is a chance he can get back on the field on Sunday. If Purdy is not back on the field, then Mac Jones will be calling shots again this week. It doesn’t matter who is starting at quarterback this week, as the 49ers take on the Houston Texans. The Texans have been incredible against opposing passers this season. They are giving up just 10 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. That number ranks first in the NFL for the fewest number of points per game given up to quarterbacks. In total, they have given up just 1,182 passing yards and just four touchdowns.

The 49ers seem to be in a position where riding Christian McCaffrey’s back seems to be the smart way to go. Running with McCaffrey takes away passing opportunities from whoever is starting at quarterback for the 49ers this week. If you are someone who has been waiting on Purdy and is chomping at the bit to bring him back, wait another week, as quarterbacks just don’t score fantasy points against the Texans this season.

Sit: Marcus Mariota Fantasy Outlook vs Kansas City Chiefs

In Marcus Mariota’s two starts this week, he has put together two weeks finishing as QB6 and QB17. Those are numbers that fit into a position if you are looking for a spot start on any given week. Even though Mariota is back to starting with Jayden Daniels injured, I am advising against starting Mariota this week. The Commanders take on the Kansas City Chiefs this week, who have been awesome against the pass this season. The Chiefs are giving up just 15.9 points per game to opposing quarterbacks, giving up just 1,277 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns.

Mariota is in a situation where he can be in the consideration for a start if you are a Daniels owner. Look elsewhere, as the Chiefs have allowed just one 15-point fantasy performance from the quarterback position since Week 2.
