Week 3 of the 2020 NFL season treated us to plenty of great games and thrilling finishes. In total, nine of the 16 games were decided by a single touchdown or less. We saw the Bengals and Eagles play to the first tie of the season, a blowout-turned thriller between the Rams and Bills in Buffalo, and a whole lot of Patrick Mahomes in the marquee Monday Night matchup. With all the craziness around the league, there is once again plenty of position shuffling in the Week 4 NFL Power Rankings.
It certainly seems as though we are getting a better feel for each of the 32 NFL teams after three weeks of play. After digesting all of the games, news, and notes of this most recent slate of games, here are the FlurrySports Week 4 NFL Power Rankings. Read on to see how your team stacks up against the rest of the league.
Week 4 NFL Power Rankings
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Week 3 Ranking: 1
At this point, it feels like the Chiefs are in a rankings tier of their own. The hyped-up Monday Night Football clash between Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs and Lamar Jackson’s Ravens was pretty one-sided the whole way. Mahomes was toying with the Baltimore defense for the majority of the contest, and the efforts of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense to contain the reigning NFL MVP did not go unnoticed.
2. Seattle Seahawks
Week 3 Ranking: 3
The Russell Wilson show is alive and well. The MVP frontrunner after the first three weeks was spectacular with 5 touchdown passes, including three to Tyler Lockett. Seattle needed every one of them too, as a suspect defense could barely fend off the Cowboys’ rally. The Seahawks will now cross their fingers that the injuries sustained by safety Jamal Adams and running back Chris Carson aren’t serious.
3. Baltimore Ravens
Week 3 Ranking: 2
It was a disappointing effort from Lamar Jackson and the entire Ravens team. Missed throws, dropped passes, and sloppy penalties were all on display in bunches. With their chance to assert themselves as the new team to beat in the AFC now gone, the Ravens will look to get back to playing the disciplined style of football that has gotten them to this point. A Week 4 matchup with the Washington Football Team figures to provide the perfect place to get right after this Monday night clunker.
4. Green Bay Packers
Week 3 Ranking: 5
The Pack picked up their most impressive win to date in Week 3, taking down the Saints in New Orleans. While they may not have had to contend with a raucous Superdome crowd, they also earned the win without top wideout Davante Adams. With established leaders on both sides of the ball in Aaron Rodgers and ZaDarius Smith, it’s fair to say this team was vastly underrated coming into the season.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 3 Ranking: 6
The Steelers are yet to notch a dominant victory, but they have taken care of business in each of the first three weeks. With a defense that ranks second in adjusted efficiency (Football Outsiders) and an offense that seems to only be getting better, Pittsburgh looks legitimate. They will get their toughest test of the young season this coming week against the also unbeaten Titans.
6. Buffalo Bills
Week 3 Ranking: 7
Any doubts concerning the Bills’ quarterback play coming into the season have dissipated. Josh Allen has shown out in each of the first three weeks with no performance more impressive than his four-touchdown effort against the talented Rams’ defense in Week 3. The defense is underachieving a bit but make no mistake about it. Buffalo is for real.
7. Los Angeles Rams
Week 3 Ranking: 4
The Rams would’ve certainly fallen much further down this list if not for a second-half comeback for the ages. Whatever second half adjustments Sean McVay made offensively, it sure worked. Los Angeles has arguably one of the NFL’s most potent offenses in the early portion of the season. Things will be easier in the coming weeks, with matchups against the Giants, Washington, and banged-up 49ers.
8. San Francisco 49ers
Week 3 Ranking: 10
Speaking of those injury-depleted Niners. San Francisco may be facing tremendous adversity on both sides of the ball, but that didn’t stop them from routing the Giants in Week 3. Holding New York to nine measly points while playing without Nick Bosa, Dre Greenlaw and Dee Ford is truly impressive. The 49ers will hope to have Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle back in the very near future as they try to keep pace in the loaded NFC West and rise the NFL power rankings.
9. Tennessee Titans
Week 3 Ranking: 9
The Titans suffered a big blow when tackle Taylor Lewan left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. His status will be critical going forward, especially considering this is a Tennessee line that also lost Jack Conklin to free agency in the offseason. The fact that the lowly Vikings defense was able to get sustained pressure after Lewan exited is cause for concern with the Steelers looming next week.
10. New England Patriots
Week 3 Ranking: 13
Even with all the opt-outs on the defensive side of the ball, Bill Belichick still has his unit giving opponents fits. New England got back to running the football in a big way against the Raiders as well. Both Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead had big days. It may be a new era, but the Patriots are still a pretty dang good football team.
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 3 Ranking: 12
Tampa Bay proved to be no match for an undermanned Broncos team, even at Mile High where Tom Brady has tended to struggle throughout his career. Chris Godwin’s health is something to watch going forward.
12. New Orleans Saints
Week 3 Ranking: 8
The Saints managed to put up 30 points in defeat, despite playing without Michael Thomas for the second straight week. But the defense has been far from impressive the last two games, both losses. That side of the ball is a bigger concern than Drew Brees right now.
13. Chicago Bears
Week 3 Ranking: 17
Mitchell Trubisky is out and Nick Foles is in as the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears. After a miraculous comeback after being down 16 in the second half on Sunday (maybe not as miraculous given the Falcons hand out comeback wins to their opponents every week), optimism is high for the 3-0 Bears.
14. Las Vegas Raiders
Week 3 Ranking: 14
Las Vegas was riding high after upsetting the Saints to open up their new home. Week 3 saw them hit a stone wall in the Patriots defense. Injuries to rookie wideouts Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards are further cause for concern.
15. Indianapolis Colts
Week 3 Ranking: 18
The Colts ran away with an easy victory over the Jets in Week 3. Indianapolis may be forced to go to an even more run-heavy offense than expected with Michal Pittman joining fellow wideout Parris Campbell on the injured list.
16. Arizona Cardinals
Week 3 Ranking: 15
So much for blowing out the Lions. The fact that Arizona only lost by a field goal is encouraging given that they lost the turnover battle 3-0 on a trio of Kyler Murray interceptions.
17. Dallas Cowboys
Week 3 Ranking: 11
The Cowboys offense has been explosive, but this defense has been bad. Really bad. Aside from generating a decent pass rush, Dallas has seen opposing offenses score at will. Dak Prescott may have to do more than even he bargained for to earn his big payday.
18. Cleveland Browns
Week 3 Ranking: 20
The Browns have plenty of big names on both sides of the ball, but they are at their best playing smash-mouth ball and controlling the line of scrimmage. Myles Garrett is showing why he’s worth every penny Cleveland paid him in the offseason.
19. Los Angeles Chargers
Week 3 Ranking: 16
Justin Herbert completed 35 of 49 passes, but the Chargers failed to finish off many drives with points. The offensive line play was particularly concerning, and the absence of a running game against the Panthers’ horrendous defensive front was quite perplexing.
20. Detroit Lions
Week 3 Ranking: 22
The lovable losing Lions finally got off the schneid, snapping the NFL’s longest losing streak of 11 games that dated back to last season. Matt Patricia’s defense has to be commended for slowing down Kyler Murray and forcing him to make mistakes.
21. Philadelphia Eagles
Week 3 Ranking: 19
So much for an improved secondary. The Eagles rank 27th in adjusted defense against the pass through the first three weeks. and then there’s Carson Wentz and the mangled, struggling offense. All is not well in the City of Brotherly Love.
22. Houston Texans
Week 3 Ranking: 26
Deshaun Watson’s incredible touchdown pass to Will Fuller was a much-needed reminder of just how talented a quarterback he is. Unfortunately, the Texans offensive line and secondary are major points of issue. Earl Thomas will be visiting and is expected to sign with the team this week, a boost Houston sorely needs.
23. Miami Dolphins
Week 3 Ranking: 28
Brian Flores worked his magic and got the Dolphins up to dominate on a short week for their first win of the season. Myles Gaskin continues to impress as the surprise workhorse running back ahead of Jordan Howard and Matt Breida.
24. Atlanta Falcons
Week 3 Ranking: 21
We are reaching an unprecedented territory of futility when it comes to the Falcons and their bad habit of blowing big leads. It’s starting to feel like an entire changing of the guard is needed.
25. Minnesota Vikings
Week 3 Ranking: 23
Week 3 was certainly more encouraging for the Vikings than the first two. Justin Jefferson showed that he just might have what it takes to step into the role vacated by Stefon Diggs.
26. Washington Football Team
Week 3 Ranking: 24
Ron Rivera’s postgame comments seemed to suggest that the clock is ticking on Dwayne Haskins. After a 3-interception performance against the league’s 30th ranked adjusted pass defense, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
27. Cincinnati Bengals
Week 3 Ranking: 29
It wasn’t a win, but Sunday’s tie was further proof that progress is being made in Cincinnati. Now, if Joe Burrow just had an offensive line that could protect him…
28. Jacksonville Jaguars
Week 3 Ranking: 25
All the Minshew Mania momentum came to a screeching halt on the Thursday Night Football stage. James Robinson continues to impress, despite running behind a below-average offensive line.
29. Carolina Panthers
Week 3 Ranking: 31
Matt Rhule got his first win as an NFL head coach and the Panthers defense did a nice job of playing bend-but-don’t-break football on Sunday. A Week 4 matchup with the Cardinals could see plenty of offensive fireworks.
30. Denver Broncos
Week 3 Ranking: 27
The injuries continue to mount, with defensive tackle Jurrell Casey now out for the season with a torn biceps. The QB position looks to be a revolving door in the absence of Drew Lock. Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles could get their shots after a dismal Week 3 showing from Jeff Driskel.
31. New York Giants
Week 3 Ranking: 30
It’s one thing to not beat the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers. It’s another to lose to them by nearly 30 points. The Giants are well on their way to another top-5 draft pick.
32. New York Jets
Week 3 Ranking: 32
Nothing new here. The Jets once again looked incompetent in a blowout loss. Sam Darnold managed to throw not one, but two pick-six INTs. Adam Gase is sitting on a volcano at this point. They are the clear last place team in the Week 4 NFL Power Rankings.
