Twitter Reactions to the New Dak Prescott Contract | Dallas Cowboys

Twitter reactions to the new Dak Prescott contract shows that members of Dallas Cowboys Nation are elated to have #4 back as their QB1.

We all know, by now, that the Cowboy’s 2020-21 season was filled with disappointment across the board, especially after Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending ankle injury. But the nightmare of Dak being franchise tagged or even going to another team is officially over and Cowboys fans can sleep peacefully again.

    New Dak Prescott Contract

Prescott and the Cowboys have finally come to an agreement for a contract extension that was worth the wait. Dak’s new four-year deal with the Cowboys is worth $160 million, which includes $126 million guaranteed. This new contract is estimated to average $42 million in the first three years of the contract.

As if that wasn’t a deal of a lifetime already, the deal will apparently give Prescott $66 million upon signing and $75 million for the 2021 season. This gives Dak the highest signing bonus in NFL history, just above Russell Wilson, at $65 million.

The contract has a no-trade clause and no-tag provision as an added as a cherry on top.

This deal was notably a win-win situation for Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys front office, as this will only take up $22.2 million of the salary-cap. Keep in mind, this is $15.5 million less than it would have cost to put the franchise tag on the Dak for the 2021-22 season.

    Twitter Reacts to Dak’s Deal

Twitter’s reactions to Dak Prescott’s new contract came after what seemed like an eternity of waiting for Cowboys fans.

Starting with the semi-cryptic tweet that came from the Dallas Cowboys official Twitter account right before the news broke.

    Hey y'all, guess what…

    — Dallas Cowboys (@dallascowboys) March 9, 2021
The Dallas Cowboys sent this tweet out right before the news officially broke about Dak’s new contract extension.

Of course, Cowboys fans were quick to read between the lines with this tweet.

But their thoughts were solidified with one simple emoji that nearly broke the internet from the same account.

Who knew one emoji could mean so much to a franchise?

    4️⃣

The Dallas Cowboys tweeted “4”, the number Dak wears on his jersey.

Arguably, the best tweet related to the Dak news was from his older brother, Tad Prescott.

Tad tweeted an emotional picture of the two sharing a hug after Prescott got the call that the deal had been made.

Many Dallas Cowboys players were, also, quick to congratulate Dak on the new-deal and send love to their official QB1.

Some Twitter reactions to Dak Prescott’s new deal came from former Dallas Cowboys players who wanted to share their excitement.

One of the most notable included one of the most current Hall of Fame inductees, Drew Pearson.

The original #88 made it crystal clear what he is expecting from the 27-year-old QB with this new deal.

Huge Congrats to Dak Prescott!!! Lets bring a ring home next!!! pic.twitter.com/CL2VpAxU6L

Speaking of #88, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and current Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Dez Bryant tweeted a series of tweets related to the new deal.

Not only did Dez send his congratulations to Dak, but implying that Dak leaving the Cowboys could have cost them a chance at any future Super Bowl appearances.

Yo!!!!! @dak!!! Congratulations brotha well deserved… shit I feel like I got paid!!!

    — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) March 8, 2021
Dez Bryant’s first of a series of tweets.

The Dak situation started to remind me whenever we let Demarco walk in 15… me personally I knew our chances of having a chance to win the super bowl was gone.. it wasn’t the catch it was Demarco leaving the team which made me feel hopeless Smart decision @dallascowboys ….

    — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) March 9, 2021
Dez Bryant continues his series of tweets.

The Dallas Cowboys front office wasn’t holding back their excitement for the deal either.

Charlotte Jones Anderson, the Dallas Cowboys’ Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer tweeted that there were “smiles all around”.

    Smiles all around… DONE DEAL!!
    Now that’s a manifestation! #DallasCowboys #Faith pic.twitter.com/FrgRNs9IrJ

    — Charlotte Jones (@cjonescowboys) March 9, 2021
Charlotte Jones Anderson says “smiles all around” for the new deal.

Prescott, himself, has stayed silent on social media.

But don’t expect Twitter reactions to Dak Prescott’s new deal to slow down anytime soon.

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to hold a press conference to give official details on the contract extension Wednesday.
