It’s rumor season for the 28 NFL teams who are not playing during Championship Weekend of the NFL Playoffs. These teams also have to answer some massive questions. Recently, the New York Jets answered one of their big questions by hiring Aaron Glenn to be their next head coach. Now, the Jets must find a general manager and figure out if there is a future between them and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Recently, Jeremy Fowler, of ESPN, and others on his team spoke with NFL executives and scouts and made them answer some big questions for this offseason, making predictions about other teams in the league.

Of course, one of the biggest questions we have is the status of Aaron Rodgers. The 41-year-old, four-time MVP has had a lot of success in his football career. But will Aaron Rodgers retire after all of the drama with the New York Jets and changes with the head coach and general manager? If he does decide to play again, will it be in New York?

Aaron Rodgers on reports that people close to him have said he is likely to retire:

Aaron Rodgers Will Retire, Per NFL Exec

The New York Jets recently made one big decision this offseason, hiring Aaron Glenn as their new head coach. Glenn has a connection with the Jets, having been drafted by the team at 12th overall in the 1994 NFL Draft. He knows the building and knows the drama that comes along with the market and the owner. So, it looks to be a smart pairing. But who is the quarterback that will be paired with the head coach?

According to an NFL executive in the AFC, per ESPN, Rodgers won’t be back in New York.

When talking about whether or not Rodgers will play football someone else, the anonymous exec said, “I’m just trying to think of a logical place for him to play and I can’t think of one…I’m guessing he doesn’t want to go to a rebuild. And if you’re a contender, I’m not sure they want to take on Aaron Rodgers and all that comes with that. So, he might just come to the conclusion that he’s done.”

Aaron Glenn Rumored to Want Aaron Rodgers

However, the conversation above came prior to the Jets hiring Glenn to be their new head coach. Glenn has coached against Aaron Rodgers enough to know how good he is. There were rumors prior to the Jets hiring that Glenn made it known where he is hired that he wanted Rodgers to be his quarterback.

During one of his weekly conversations on The Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers said his future both with the Jets and in the NFL is up in the air. Step one would be to speak with the new general manager and head coach, then he would go from there.

If there is a mutual interest and respect between the two parties, there is a real chance Rodgers is back with the Jets. We know there is respect between Glenn and Rodgers, and now it appears Glenn wants him to be the offensive leader. So, with this in mind, will Rodgers actually be back with the Jets next season? If he is, will Davante Adams decide to run it back as well?
