San Diego Padres Preview
Yesterday’s lopsided defeat marked the first loss for the Padres since Opening Day. San Diego dominated the remainder of a season-opening four-game series at Arizona before taking the opener from the Giants on Monday night as well. After generating 10 hits as a team in the series opener, the Padres were held to half of that last night. Yu Darvish got shelled early on and the Padres never had a chance. They faced a 10-1 deficit after just two innings of play.
Preseason trade acquisition Sean Manaea will aim to get San Diego back on track in today’s MLB betting matchup. The Padres acquired Manaea less than two weeks before the start of the season in a move that bolstered a rotation that was already teeming with potential. The 30-year-old southpaw was brilliant in his San Diego debut. Manaea hurled seven shutout innings against the Diamondbacks and didn’t even allow a hit. Of course, that performance did come against arguably the worst lineup in all of baseball.
San Francisco Giants Preview
After dropping Monday’s game in the later innings, the Giants managed to rebound in a big way last night. Although MLB betting odds initially selected the Padres as the favorite, the market moved in San Francisco’s favor prior to the first pitch. Needless to say, the move proved dead-on accurate. Alex Cobb fanned ten over five innings and Wilmer Flores accounted for three of the team’s 15 hits (including a homer) as the Giants jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
The Giants will turn to 25-year-old staff ace Logan Webb as their starting pitcher for today’s MLB betting contest. This will be Webb’s second start of the season. Although San Fran did win his Opening Day outing, Webb was a nonfactor in the decision. One could argue that he got robbed of a win as his one run allowed over six innings of work certainly counts as a quality start. Webb did suffer a minor ankle sprain covering first base in Friday’s game, but all signs indicate that he will be ready to roll today.

Padres vs Giants Prediction | MLB Betting Picks
The low MLB betting total of seven runs is very telling when it comes to this matchup. Sure, the odds are juiced to the over, but the fact that oddsmakers are holding firm at an even seven runs is a testament to the quality pitching matchup. Both Sean Manaea and Logan Webb have what it takes to carry the baton into deep waters for their respective ballclub. The fact that neither the Padres nor the Giants possess a mighty offense only furthers the expectation that a pitching duel could transpire.
Despite his sprained ankle, Webb is clearly the pitcher worth backing. This is pretty much the case every time he takes the mound for the Giants until we are proven otherwise. Among the MLB betting options at BetUS Sportsbook is a “Race to Four Runs” prop. While both teams are listed at plus-money odds, the Padres may be hard-pressed just to score four runs total in this matchup. After the Giants’ bats exploded yesterday, they seem like a good pick to win this race at +150 odds.
