The Miami Dolphins face their toughest task of the season, facing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Unfortunately, they will go into battle with a depleted backfield, following the Myles Gaskin COVID update. With Gaskin inactive, DeAndre Washington fantasy owners found themselves some unexpected value.
Myles Gaskin COVID
It was announced on Saturday afternoon that Gaskin had been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This is a massive disappointment for Gaskin fantasy owners. However, this is also a massive blow to the Dolphins’ offense.
Miami was already without Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) and Matt Breida (COVID) for this game. Now, it appears Washington will see as much work as he can handle.
[sc name=”newsletter” ]DeAndre Washington Fantasy Outlook
Last week, Washington saw his biggest workload of the season, carrying the ball 13 times for 49 yards, while also catching two of his five targets for 11 yards. Washington is a veteran that has had some success in the NFL.
His best season was his rookie year with the Raiders, running for 467 yards (5.4 YPC). Washington has never been the true featured runner, though he did log a 23-carry game last season, which he totaled just 85 yards. He has never had a 100-yard game in his career.
Kansas City allows the third-most yards per carry (YPC) this season, at 4.8. He has also consistently been used in the passing game in his career. So, given this information, it would not be surprising to see Washington push for 75 percent of the snaps this week, especially given Miami’s tendencies to feature one runner.
Given the workload and matchup, Washington looks to be a safe flex play with upside this week.
