The Chicago Bears are in the midst of a six-game losing skid that dates all the way back to mid-October. While the team’s postseason hopes are all but officially dead, don’t discount the value that Chicago players might bring during the fantasy playoffs, which begin this weekend. David Montgomery fantasy owners in particular have a lot to be excited about in the next few weeks.

David Montgomery Fantasy Update

As the Bears’ offensive struggles have continued, Montgomery has been one of the team’s most reliable contributors. From a fantasy football standpoint, Montgomery provides owners with coveted volume in terms of his touch count on a weekly basis. For as skilled as the second-year pro is running between the tackles, he also possesses sound pass-catching abilities.

Since returning from a concussion that kept him sidelined for a single game, Montgomery has stepped right back into a double-digit carries role. He followed up 11 carries and six targets in Week 12 with 17 carries and four targets last week. A player of his talent level is too good not to produce with those touches, evidenced in his fantasy point totals of 25.3 and 27.1.

David Montgomery Fantasy Playoffs Outlook

When it comes to promising schedules for the fantasy playoffs, Montgomery’s is as promising as any. The strong games in each of the last two weeks against the Packers and Lions proved just what he is capable of when playing teams that struggle to contain opposing backs.

Over the next three weeks, Montgomery will face the Texans, Vikings and Jaguars. Those teams are allowing the second, 17th, and fifth-most fantasy points, respectively, to opposing running backs on a per-game basis. There’s even promise for fantasy owners playing into Week 17, where Montgomery will face the Packers once again.

Montgomery appears to combine skill, high volume and positive matchups down the stretch of the season. That’s the perfect trifecta for fantasy success.
