Georgia Bulldogs Preview

Kirby Smart has assembled a defensive juggernaut since taking over as the head coach at Georgia. While the Bulldogs’ offense certainly had its fair share of success this season as well, the defense was the story. Despite playing in the premier Southeastern Conference, UGA surrendered less than a full touchdown per game in points. Their ridiculous 6.9 average points allowed easily ranked as the best scoring defense in both the SEC and the country. Led by a stacked front four, the Bulldogs held each of their eight college football betting regular-season conference opponents to 17 points or less. However, many believe that the potent Alabama offense will be the stiffest test that Smart’s defense has faced to date.

On offense, J.T. Daniels opened the season at quarterback for Georgia but was lost to an injury. Luckily, the Bulldogs had another competent signal-caller waiting in the wings. In this day and age of the college football transfer portal, having a guy like Stetson Bennett IV as their backup quarterback has proven invaluable for Georgia. While his passing numbers weren’t gaudy, they didn’t need to be. The Bulldogs simply needed Bennett to come in and take care of the football, which he did in posting a 21:5 touchdown-interception ratio. Georgia wears their college football betting opponents down by running behind an offensive line loaded with NFL-caliber talent. Zamir White and James Cook lead a seemingly endless stable of running backs.

Alabama Crimson Tide Preview

While Alabama only suffered one loss during the regular season, they certainly played in their fair share of close games. The reigning SEC Championship Game winners will be looking to repeat on Saturday in Atlanta. A college football betting upset of Georgia would ensure that the Crimson Tide return to the familiar realm of the College Football Playoff. Nick Saban’s team has taken on a slightly different identity this season. Once again, Alabama’s defense has had some rough games throughout the season. However, the offense simply retooled and reloaded following the star departures from last year’s national title-winning team.

Sophomore quarterback Bryce Young finished the regular season as the college football betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He put up insane numbers, throwing for nearly 4000 yards and 40 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. Replacing Mac jones proved to be no problem at all for the Tide. Of course, having three (and probably more) future NFL stalwarts surrounding him on offense certainly helped. Wideouts Jameson Williams and John Metchie both had terrific seasons, as did running back Brian Robinson Jr. The passing attack figures to be key for the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship. Many analysts believe that Alabama’s offensive line will not be able to open running holes against the stout UGA defensive front. Thus, it will be up to Young to exploit the weaker back end of the Bulldogs’ defense.
