The Buffalo Bills were in a battle with a good number of teams to sign JJ Watt, but missed out due to the Arizona Cardinals signing him. This was a huge surprise to a lot of people, because the reported final three teams that had the best chance of signing him were the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers and the Bills. Now, the question becomes who is the next best free agent pass rusher after Watt the Bills should go after?
Free Agent Pass Rushers for Bills to Target
Jadeveon Clowney
Jadeveon Clowney, to me, would probably be the next best free agent pass rusher, as far as power and potential, if he can stay healthy. Obviously, this has been an issue in pervious seasons, especially last season, as he only played eight games. Effort has also been a thing that has troubled Clowney, but the Bills coaching staff could motivate him and get his career back on track. Clowney would be a little less expensive than Watt,, and he may be willing to take a little less to go to an immediate Super Bowl-contending team.
Yannick Ngakoue
Yannick Ngakoue would be another top free agent, as far as pass rushers go. He would also be more affordable than Watt. Ngakoue didn’t get as much playing time last year, but is a more situational pass rusher, so he isn’t an every snap player. I also think the Bills coaching staff could get more out of him and could probably get him for a pretty good deal. He only made a little over $5 million last season with Baltimore.
It is uncertain so far as to who the Bills will go after for pass rusher in NFL Free Agency, but Brandon Beane has been known to find the diamond in the rough. In other words, stay tuned.
