Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 15 QBs

Start: Tua Tagovailoa vs. Jets

Team Name: Tag You’re It

If you are in need of a fill-in QB this week and need a safe floor, look no further than Tua Tagovailoa. Since returning from injury in Week 6, Tagovailoa has been the QB10 on a per-week basis, averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game (fppg). With almost all of his receivers at his disposal this week, although still no Will Fuller sightings in South Beach, and a matchup with Jets, this is a nice spot for Tagovailoa. The Jets are giving up 19 fppg, and that is right in line with what Tagovailoa put up against them when they played in Week 11. Start him this week as a safe fantasy football QB1.

Start: Both QBs, Vikings at Bears

Team Name: Justin Time

As long as the weather holds, which is no guarantee in the Windy City in late December, this Monday night game will be a deciding factor to who moves onto the second round in many fantasy football leagues. The Bears and Vikings defensively are third and fourth-worst in the league, respectively, in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs. Over the last four weeks, the Vikings are last (22.3 fppg) and the Bears are third from the bottom (21 fppg).

On the season, Kirk Cousins is the QB10 on a per-game basis, averaging 19.7 fppg. In three of the last four games, Justin Fields has been over 19 fantasy points. Get Cousins in your lineup as a QB1 and Fields is more of a streaming option if you are in need of a plug-and-play QB with high upside in a great matchup, albeit with a lower floor as well.

Sit: Derek Carr at Browns

Team Name: Dude Where’s My Carr?

Another QB who has likely led many teams to this point of the season as the QB13 is Derek Carr. He also finds himself in a very tough spot for the first round of the playoffs when the Raiders travel to Cleveland to play the Browns. This game has the second-lowest total of the week (40) behind only the relegation game between the Jaguars and Texans. The Browns, who are giving up 17.4 fppg to opposing QBs, have given up only 8.3 over their last four weeks. This is not the week to roll with Carr, despite him leading you to this point. Find another option, like any of those listed above if at all possible.

Sit: Carson Wentz vs. Patriots

Team Name: Wentzlemania

The move to Indianapolis has been good for Carson Wentz, as he has reemerged as a quality QB not only in the NFL but also for fantasy purposes, ranking QB14. This week, however, he draws a tough matchup with the Patriots, who are shutting down opposing passing offenses, giving up only 12 fppg to opposing QBs for the season. Over the last four weeks, that number drops to a minuscule 6.1 fppg. With your playoffs on the line, Wentz is best left on the bench this week. You are better off with a streaming option.
