This article is not here for the obvious plays, so if you have Austin Ekeler, Dalvin Cook or Jonathan Taylor, you know what to do. Instead, we will look at fantasy football RBs on the fringe of RB2/Flex status to help you make the tough choices to win your matchups. Let’s get to it!

Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 15 RBs

Start: James Robinson vs. Texans

Team Name: Batman and Robinson

This may be tough to do in the playoffs, considering the last two weeks James Robinson has had 2.5 and 0.4 fantasy points, but this matchup is absolutely incredible against the Texans, who just got shredded by the aforementioned Rashaad Penny last week. On the season, the Texans have given up numbers that would make all-time RB greats blush — 1,675 yards and 15 touchdowns rushing with another 51 receptions for 334 yards and two touchdowns.

Last week was an absolute disaster for the Jaguars, as they mustered up only 192 yards. Despite this, Robinson got six of the seven carries. The workload should also increase now that Urban Meyer is off the sideline and back in his Chophouse.

Start: Rashaad Penny at Rams

Team Name: Penny For Your Thoughts

This one falls under the category of better late than never, as the oft-injured Rashaad Penny has a chance to lead fantasy teams to the promised land. Last week, in a terrific matchup with the Texans, Penny was able to capitalize by rushing for 137 yards on 16 carries and adding two touchdowns, and he nearly had a third as well. This week, the matchup gets significantly tougher against the Rams, who are giving up 22.6 fantasy points per game to opposing backs, but with the workload he should receive as the feature back he should be able to turn in a fantasy football RB2 performance with RB1 upside. Get him in your lineup the rest of the way, if you need an RB2.

Sit: Michael Carter vs. Washington Football Team

Team Name: Coach Carter

It looks like Michael Carter may make his return this week, and you may be tempted to get him back out there, but you are better off taking a wait-and-see approach. First off, three weeks is on the short end of the timetable for a return from a high ankle sprain, so we are likely to see him get worked back in slowly. Second, the matchup is tough against the Dolphins, who have been solid against RBs all season, giving up only 21.3 fppg per game, but over the last four weeks, they have allowed only 15.6 fppg. If you have another option, leave Carter on your fantasy football bench.

Sit: Any Lions RB vs. Cardinals

Team Name: Up Jamaal Night to Get Lucky

This sit recommendation stands both if Jamaal Williams is still out this week or if he is able to make his return. The Lions are 14-point underdogs this week against the Cardinals and have an implied team total of 17, while the Cardinals defense has only given up 18.4 fppg against opposing RBs over the last four weeks. The concern with Williams is that the week prior to last he only received one target in the passing game, which is the pathway to a productive fantasy game against the Cardinals, as they have given up 81 receptions to RBs on the season.
