Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 2 WRs Include Chris Godwin

Last week, there were some surprises at the top of the board and the fantasy football waiver wire went wild with people picking up guys who they think will continue to deliver points. Week 2 in the NFL has some marquee matchups, including Buffalo at Miami, Cincinnati at Kansas City, and Chicago at Houston. There will be some tough fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em decisions to be made.

Of course, you will be starting Tyreek Hill, Cooper Kupp and CeeDee Lamb. This list is for the players in that middle-tier WR range. Week 1 was great for WR scoring in fantasy, with 41 WRs scoring 10 or more points. Hopefully, the WRs keep up the scoring. To help you through these tough decisions, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings and read on for our Week 2 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em analysis at WR.

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 2 WRs

Start: Mike Evans & Chris Godwin Fantasy Outlook vs Detroit Lions

Yes, both wide receivers for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be starters in your lineups this week (though I can’t imagine you had a question about Evans). Both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin wreaked havoc on the Washington Commanders in Week 1. Mike Evans went for 23.1 fantasy points while Chris Godwin scored 22.3 points. Both of them were inside the top-eight for fantasy points at the position.

The dynamic duo will play the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Evans carried the Bucs the last time these two teams played in the Divisional Round of the playoffs last season with 29.7 points. Godwin had a respectable eight points. The Lions allowed Kupp to go over 100 yards with a touchdown and WR2 of Tyler Johnson and Puka Nacua (Nacua got injured and was replaced) both combined for over 100 yards, leading to the Lions giving up the most points to WRs in Week 1. Put the Bucs double barrel WRs in your lineup this week.

Start: Tyler Johnson Fantasy Outlook vs Arizona Cardinals

Speaking of Tyler Johnson, with Puka Nacua out for at least four weeks, Johnson will take over the snaps. In his shot in Week 1, Johnson grabbed five catches for 79 yards against the Lions. Johnson has become a top fantasy football waiver wire pickup in leagues leagues with Nacua’s injury.

The Arizona Cardinals also have an inexperienced DB room. Starling Thomas, Garrett Williams and Sean Murphy-Bunting gave up the seventh-most points in Week 1, and that was to the Buffalo Bills who are weak at receiver. The Rams are going to go off on this Cardinals defense. Tyler Johnson is a clear “start” in this week’s Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.

Sit: Marvin Harrison Jr. Fantasy Outlook vs Los Angeles Rams

The rookie fourth overall pick finds himself on the wrong side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em list this week. This has nothing to do with the Rams’ defense, but do the Cardinals think he is ready? Only one catch for four yards and only three targets on the day vs the Buffalo Bills. His targets were behind Greg Dortch, Trey McBride and James Connor.

Did we put too much hype on the first-year player and that’s why we are let down? Sit Marvin Harrison Jr. for this week and take a wait-and-see approach.

Sit: George Pickens Fantasy Outlook vs Denver Broncos

The Pittsburgh Steelers WR1 should be on the bench for you this weekend. George Pickens will have Justin Fields throwing him the ball and Fields did not have the stats in Week 1 — only 156 yards for the run-first QB. Granted, Pickens caught over half of the yards for Fields, but this will be a different beast this week for him.

Pickens will line up against Patrick Surtain II for most of the snaps. Surtain held DK Metcalf to three receptions and 29 yards last week. PSII is one of the best corners in the league and will probably shut down the second-year player this week. Pickens should grab some pine if you have him on your team.
