After a first week of injuries and underperforming players, there will be plenty of fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions for the tight end position in Week 2. Below, we will help you do exactly that!
Of course, you will be starting Travis Kelce, Sam LaPorta and Trey McBride. This list is for the ones in that middle-tier TE range. Week 1 was not the best for TE scoring in fantasy. Only five TEs scored above 10 points. To help you through these tough decisions, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings and read on for our Week 2 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em analysis at TE.

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 2 TEs
Start: Hayden Hurst Fantasy Outlook vs Carolina Panthers
Okay, taking the low-hanging fruit here. The Panthers’ defense is absolute dog water. Derek Carr looked like Drew Brees in the first half of last week’s game. Third-string TE Foster Moreau was one of the five TEs who was able to score over 10 points for fantasy football (was aided by a TD). The Panthers’ defense will be picked apart all season and, until you see otherwise, start your star players who are playing against Carolina.
Hayden Hurst has been a journeyman TE. Currently, he shares the starting spot with Will Dissly, but Hurst was still on the field for 61% of the snaps compared to Dissly’s 44%. Hurst had 5.3 points and was still TE 19 in Week 1. Hurst with Justin Herbert should be a good fit to score points this week in fantasy. Combine this with the fact this is a revenge game, and Hurst makes the “start” side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article for Week 2.
Start: Isaiah Likely Fantasy Outlook vs Las Vegas Raiders
The guy who lit up the fantasy world on the opening night of the season may have played himself into TE1 in Baltimore. Isaiah Likely took full advantage of Mark Andrews not being 100% last Thursday. Likely had 27.1 fantasy points and was a toe away from adding 6+ points to that total. He may be a top target of Lamar Jackson moving forward, and if Andrews stays on the sideline, it will only increase.
On the opposite side of the ball is the Las Vegas Raiders defense. They did not allow many points to the receivers of the Chargers last week, but that receiving corps is worse than what Baltimore has. Jackson will be able to search downfield and find an open guy. Likely should be a start for everyone who has him on their team.

Sit: Tyler Conklin Fantasy Outlook vs Tenessee Titans
The top TE for the New York Jets gets set onto the sit portion of this list. Tyler Conklin got clamped by the San Francisco defense on Monday Night Football in Week 1, with only one catch for six yards. Not what you want to see out of an Aaron Rodgers-led offense.
Combine that with the Titans’ defense not giving up a point in Week 1 to the Chicago Bears offense. Cole Kmet had one reception for four yards last week. The Titans defense may have the stuff to stop the TEs going forward and a wait-and-see approach should be used. For that reason, Tyler Conklin should not start.
Sit: Dalton Kincaid Fantasy Outlook vs the Buffalo Bills
The fantasy starlet that everyone loved coming into the season is not a start this week. Dalton Kincaid had a bad Week 1. Kincaid had one reception for 11 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. That is abysmal for him. As we have found out, if Dawson Knox is active and playing, that hurts Kincaid’s fantasy value. Knox should be active on Thursday.
The Miami Dolphins defense shuttered any option that the Jacksonville Jaguars had towards Evan Engram last week. Engram only one reception for five yards. Miami had the lockdown LBs on Engram last week and Kincaid should be the same on a short week. Avoid the DK Bro on Thursday night.
