Following a Week 1 embarrassment, the Green Bay Packers have been rolling. The most significant criticism the team has had since then has been their terrible red zone defense. They answered the call Sunday, shutting down Washington inside the 20-yard line consistently. However, they now face significant adversity yet again, with Davante Adams added to the COVID-19 reserve list. With a matchup on Thursday Night Football against the lone undefeated team, this is bad news.
However, it does solidify that Davante Adams can indeed catch anything.
Davante Adams Added to COVID List
All hope is not lost for the league’s top wide receiver. If he is fully vaccinated, he can test negative twice with a full day in between and be eligible to play. However, it is a long shot, with the game being on Thursday.
If Adams is out, the receiving corps needs to step up in a big way. We have seen Allen Lazard contribute more the past two weeks, turning his 11 targets into eight catches and two touchdowns. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is also eligible to return off short-term IR this week. Still, it will need to be a group effort to replace someone like Davante Adams.
Others Green Bay Packers COVID News
Due to the short week and positive COVID cases, the Packers have announced they will be going virtual. The goal is to have enough healthy bodies for Thursday. However, it does hurt the preparation. In a week that they face the undefeated Arizona Cardinals, the timing could not be worse.
The Packers are also likely without defensive coordinator Joe Barry, who also tested positive for COVID. This seems to be a developing story, so return to this article prior to Thursday’s game for all of the Green Bay Packers COVID news.
Update 10/26
Allen Lazard has been added to the COVID-19 list, will be out for Thursday Night Football.
