Following a massive week, Davante Adams fantasy owners are feeling like the smartest in the room. Adams set a new career-high in receiving yards last week against the Houston Texans, and now he gets a solid matchup at home. However, things are looking even better than expected, following updates to the Minnesota Vikings injury report.

Vikings Injury Report Updates

News came out early in the week that starting rookie cornerback Cameron Dantzler was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. This is a bad news for a defense that is already surrendering 8.2 yards per pass attempt (third-worst in NFL) and a 68.25 percent completion rate (No. 23 in NFL).

On top of the absence of Dantzler, there are other injuries in the cornerback room. As of Thursday, both Mike Hughes and Holton Hill have not practiced, due to injury, while Kris Boyd has been limited. This means that Minnesota could be missing their top three cornerbacks. Yikes.

It goes from bad to worse, if we remember that the Vikings traded away pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue. If Minnesota again does not get pressure on Aaron Rodgers, the depleted cornerbacks will get picked apart.

Davante Adams Fantasy Outlook

Clearly, it’s easy to see why Adams is a great fantasy play this week. Following a 14-catch, 156-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Vikings in Week 1, it may not be bold to predict a similar performance here.

Allen Lazard is practicing, but he is not back yet. It looks like Aaron Jones could miss another week, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling continues to drop the ball (pun intended) whenever the opportunity looks great.

Adams schooled Hill and Hughes when they covered him in Week 1, totaling 107 yards against those two. Any backups the Vikings may be forced to throw at Adams shouldn’t be much better, but they certainly could be worse.

Much like last week, it could look like backyard football between Rodgers and Adams. Currently, Adams is my WR1 in the Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings.
