The month of April couldn’t have come quicker for most Dallas Cowboys fans. After a disappointing loss in the first round of the playoffs and a less than satisfying start to free agency, Dallas fans can turn their attention to an area where America’s Team has typically excelled over the past decade, as the Dallas Cowboys draft classes have largely been successful.
The NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and the Cowboys are wrapping up evaluations and hosting potential targets with each of their nine selections in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. The pressure will be on Will McClay and the Joneses to put this team in a position to be the first repeat winner the NFC East has seen since the Eagles won four straight from 2001-04.
However, after an offseason that started with more departures than additions, a strong draft haul has never been more crucial. Let’s take a look at the Dallas Cowboys draft targets at each position, starting at special teams in this article.

Dallas Cowboys Draft Targets: Special Teams
The Cowboys were able to retain Bryan Anger and Jake McQuaide this offseason, leaving just one hole left to fill. After an underwhelming two seasons as Dallas’ kicker, Greg Zuerlein is out.
With just Chris Naggar on the roster, there is no doubt that the Cowboys will look to add competition for him. He’s attempted just one field goal and two extra points at the NFL-level, while kicking off three times as well.
There are several quality kickers in this class that are worthy of a draft pick. At some point on day three, I expect the Cowboys to find one.
Intriguing Dallas Cowboys Draft Targets
Cade York, LSU
Cade York would make sense with one of the Cowboys’ fifth-round picks as the Bayou Bengals’ reliable option out of McKinney, Texas. In 2019, York led the nation in extra-point tries at a remarkable 93 attempts.
He only missed four of those 93 while going perfect in each of the last two seasons. He’s got a long of 57 yards and went 15-19 in career field goal attempts from beyond 50 yards.
Cameron Dicker, Texas
While attempting at least 50 extra points a season for each of his four years, Cameron Dicker never missed more than a campaign. He was a little less accurate than York on field-goal attempts but missed just two kicks in his final year.
After being perfect on kicks inside 40 yards in 2021, it would appear he has turned a corner with his accuracy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cowboys keep him in Texas with their sixth-round selection.
Gabe Brkic, Oklahoma
After a perfect 2019, Brkic had a few misses over the last two seasons. Still, he missed one extra point in 160 tries. Still, he was 10-14 from beyond 50 yards in his career. The Cowboys could reach on him with their sixth-rounder, or they could sit tight and hope he goes undrafted.
