Golden Knights vs Wild Season Series in Review
There is one word to describe the nature of the Golden Knights vs Wild this season — competitive. Maybe more so than any other two teams in the NHL right now, the Golden Knights and Wild skate with each other stride for stride, score at nearly same rate and push each other to the limit.
The Golden Knights and Wild have done battle seven times over the course of the season, and with the exception of a single outlier on March 3rd, each and every one of the games has resulted in just a one-goal victory.
Though all games have been close, the Wild have found a way to continue to just barely edge out the Golden Knights on a game by game basis. Minnesota has been victorious in five straight games against Las Vegas, three times at home and twice on the road.
Golden Knights vs Wild Game Preview
This makes me absolutely LOVE the Golden Knights tonight. I absolutely refuse to believe they are capable of losing six games in a row to the same team, no matter who it is.
The Wild are certainly good at home, holding a record of 19-5-1, but the Golden Knights also have to be respected on the road, as they own a record of 17-9, of of the NHL’s best.
Minnesota is coming off a dramatic three goal 3rd period comeback win over the Golden Knights just two nights ago, and it will be tough for them to repeat the same effort tonight.
Goaltending Will Determine This Game
More so than anything else, play between the pipes is going to determine this game. A total of 11 goals were scored between these teams on Sunday night, and both squads will have to lean heavily on the performances of their respective goaltenders.
Luckily for Golden Knight fans and betters alike, they have a goaltender who is leaps and bounds better, and will be in net tonight, instead of on the bench like Sunday’s contest. Marc Andre Fleury has worked his way into the second favorite to win this years Vezina Trophy, after not even making the top-10 in the preseason.
He has truly put the team on his back, carrying Vegas to a top three defensive ranking in any category you choose, and allowing the fewest goals, as a team, in the entire NHL at 2.16. He owns a record of 23-10, including five shutouts to go along with a .926 sv% and 2.08 GAA.
This is certainly an advantage over Cam Talbot, who is currently struggling. He has allowed 14 goals in his last three appearances, and has been pulled a couple of times this season.
Golden Knights vs Wild Prediction and Best Bets
As mentioned earlier, the Golden Knights are just simply too good to lose a mind-boggling six in a row to the Wild. I like them to finally get some revenge in Minnesota tonight.
Go ahead and lay the -115 on the ML tonight. Many of us got burned by the Wild comeback on Sunday, so this is your chance to make up some lost units.
If you’re looking to play the game total, I would lean heavily toward the under in this one. Two nights ago, both teams exploded, and goals seemed to come easy.
I expect a much more solid game defensively from both sides, especially from the Golden Knights. Additionally, Talbot has to have a rebound performance at some point, so don’t be surprised if he and Fleury put on a show.
