Every Monday, we will be releasing our updated college basketball rankings, with major headlines from the college basketball world.

Top 25 College Basketball Rankings

1. Gonzaga (2-0, 0-0)

The Bulldogs took home to major wins over Kansas and Auburn last week, retaining the top spot in the college basketball rankings. They are matched up with #2 Baylor on Saturday.

2. Baylor (2-0, 0-0)

Baylor cruised to two blowout wins last week. The Bears take on #6 Illinois and #1 Gonzaga this week.

3. Wisconsin (2-0, 0-0)

Wisconsin played their classic style of basketball, beating up on Eastern Illinois and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The strong play from Wisconsin basketball has them rising up the college basketball rankings. They have two in-state games this week, against Green Bay and Marquette.

4. Kansas (1-1, 0-0)

Kansas went 1-1 last week, with a tough loss to #1 Gonzaga. This week they have three games, with a premier matchup versus #16 Kentucky.

5. Iowa (2-0, 0-0)

Luka Garza showed that he is the leading candidate for player of the year, leading the Hawkeyes to two wins. Iowa has one game this week versus Western Illinois.

6. Illinois (3-0, 0-0)

Illinois came through with three wins in three days to start the season. They are matched up with #2 Baylor on Wednesday.

7. Duke (1-0, 0-0)

Duke took down Coppin State like they should have. They come into this week with three games scheduled including one against #8 Michigan State.

8. Michigan State (2-0, 0-0)

The Spartans started their season 2-0 with strong showings from Joey Hauser and Foster Loyer. Michigan State has three games on their schedule this week including a game versus #7 Duke on Tuesday.

9. Houston (3-0, 0-0)

Houston took home three wins last week with a major win over Texas Tech, a win that could potentially help them down the road. The Cougars take on a sneaky South Carolina team on Saturday.

10. Creighton (1-0, 0-0)

The Blue Jays looked like a solid team with four players scoring double digits in their win over North Dakota State. Creighton has two games versus Omaha and Kennesaw State this week.

11. Virginia (1-1, 0-0)

Virginia killed Towson and then took a brutal loss to a decent San Francisco team last week. This week the Cavaliers host St Francis Pennsylvania and Kent State.

12. Villanova (2-1, 0-0)

Villanova went through the ACC gauntlet winning two games, but losing to an unranked Virginia Tech. Nova looks to avenge their loss with three games this week, ending with a matchup versus #15 Texas on Sunday.

13. North Carolina (1-0, 0-0)

North Carolina’s freshman played well in a down game for Garrison Brooks. The Tar Heels have one scheduled game against UNLV this week.

14. West Virginia (3-0, 0-0)

The Mountaineers finished week one with a 3-0 record including a win over VCU. West Virginia has one game this week, going to Georgetown.

15. Texas (1-0, 0-0)

Texas won their only matchup of the week, beating Texas Rio Grande Valley. This week they will face a huge test as they are matched up with #12 Villanova.

16. Kentucky (1-1, 0-0)

Kentucky split their opening two games and took a tough loss to a solid Richmond team. This week the Wildcats schedule doesn’t get easier as they are matched up with #4 Kansas.

17. Tennessee (0-0, 0-0)

Tennessee did not play last week. The Volunteers also don’t have a game scheduled until December 12th.

18. Arizona State (2-1, 0-0)

Arizona State took home two wins last week, but also suffered a tough loss to Villanova. The Sun Devils play California on Thursday.

19. Ohio State (2-0, 0-0)

Ohio State got two wins over Illinois State and UMass Lowell last week. The Buckeyes take on Morehead State and Alabama A&M this week.

20. Louisville (3-0, 0-0)

Louisville started the season with three wins, including a hard fought win over a tough Seton Hall team. This week the Cardinals take on Western Kentucky and UNC Greensboro.

21. Oregon (0-0, 0-0)

Oregon did not play last week. The Ducks also don’t have a game scheduled until December 12th.

22. Richmond (2-0, 0-0)

Richmond won its first two games of the season with a huge upset over Kentucky. The Spiders have Charleston and Furman on deck this week.

23. Saint Louis (2-0, 0-0)

Saint Louis started their season with two wins, including a big upset over LSU. The Billikens look to stay undefeated against Arkansas-Pine Bluff this week.

24. Florida State (0-0, 0-0)

Florida State did not play last week. The Seminoles also don’t have a game scheduled until December 12th.

25. San Diego State (2-0, 0-0)

San Diego State opened their season with two wins including a big upset over UCLA. The Aztecs play Saint Katherine and SDCC this week.

Week 2 College Basketball Headlines

A top two matchup features #1 Gonzaga and #2 Baylor on Saturday.

#4 Kansas looks to avenge their loss to Gonzaga with a matchup against #16 Kentucky.

A heavyweight game including #7 Duke and #8 Michigan State could have major tournament implications.

Howard’s Makur Maker is shut down after suffering a groin injury.
