Clippers vs Nets NBA Betting Overview
Clippers Outlook
The Clippers caught a break when the expected virus absences of stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were reduced dramatically. The presence of their two best players has helped Los Angeles win three straight on this eastward road trip coming into tonight’s game. Of course, the Clippers were NBA betting favorites in each of the games, so it’s really just been about taking care of business.
Point guard Patrick Beverley remains sidelined by a knee injury, but Reggie Jackson has stepped up in his absence. Sunday’s win over the New York Knicks marked Jackson’s fifth-straight game in double figures scoring. The Clippers will certainly need all the offensive production they can get against the high-scoring Nets in tonight’s game.
Clippers Injury Report
- Out: Patrick Beverley (knee)
- Questionable: Nicolas Batum (groin)
Nets Outlook
If one thing’s for certain, the Nets’ offense is really good. Even without James Harden, Brooklyn was still able to put up 146 points on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Nets somehow still managed to lose the game to the lowly Washington Wizards. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the supporting cast can score all they want, but the Nets’ lack of intensity on the defensive end will continue to hurt them in the NBA betting market.
One has to believe that another trade is imminent for Brooklyn at some point. The Nets did sign Iman Shumpert to a contract last week, but he won’t be the answer to what is a pretty empty frontcourt. Veteran DeAndre Jordan is more of a defensive liability than he is a shot-blocking stalwart at this point in his career. And while playing Jeff Green at the five is great for offensive purposes, it makes the Nets look a lot like assistant Mike D’Antoni’s small-ball Houston Rockets lineups from the past few seasons. Something tells me that sort of deja vu isn’t quite what Harden had in mind when forcing his way out of Houston.
Nets Injury Report
- Out: Nicolas Claxton (knee)
- Questionable: Iman Shumpert

Clippers vs Nets Prop Bet
Reggie Jackson Total Points: Over 12.5 (-114 at Bovada Sportsbook)
Reserve point guard Reggie Jackson has probably delivered more than most expected while filling in for injured starter Patrick Beverley. With 20+ minutes played in each of the last five games, Jackson has reached double figures scoring in every one. He has shot the ball well from 3-point range and also contributed rebounds, assists and steals on a nightly basis during L.A.’s road trip. There’s a reason Jackson has solid fantasy basketball value in the short-term, and I’m looking to ride his strong play in the NBA player props sphere tonight as well.
Only once in the last five games has Jackson come up short of the 12.5-point threshold that the NBA odds have for tonight. That was against an Orlando Magic team that joins the Clippers as a bottom seven team in terms of possessions per game. The Nets rank second, indicating a much faster pace of play in tonight’s contest. More possessions mean more shot attempts for all players involved. I’ll take the Over on Jackson’s NBA betting points prop.
