Houston Astros Preview
In Game 2, the Houston Astros needed just one swing of the bat to get the job done. The Astros collected eight hits but just one Alex Bregman three-run home run in the third inning made all the difference. Houston quite honestly should’ve scored even more runs but unfortunately weren’t able to string hits together effectively. The power that exists throughout their lineup makes them so dangerous as any batter can change the game with one pitch.
Once again, the Astros’ pitching was fantastic. Framber Valdez went seven innings and gave up just four hits while striking out nine. He got himself into a little trouble in the fourth inning but got out of it with the lead still intact. If the Astros can get a similar performance from Christian Javier in Game 3, they’ll be all but assured of a victory in Game 3.
New York Yankees Preview
The Yankees find themselves in a bit of trouble and the mood around the clubhouse is concerning. In their postgame press conferences, multiple Yankees complained about what hits were and weren’t leaving the park in Houston. The Yankees should be focused more on the task ahead and instead seem to be lamenting on past failures and what may be “fair.”
The good news for the Yankees was that their pitching was solid in Game 2. New York did well to limit the damage and they gave up just five hits after the third inning. Their offense will eventually come around. When it does, if the pitching can continue to hold the Astros to just a few runs per game, they stand a good chance at least taking one of two back home in New York.
