The Cardinals underwhelmed in the 2016-17 season. No one is denying that. However, fans should have much more hope for the 2017-18 season. The Cardinals offense is full of weapons as well as the defense added plenty of solid players in the draft and during the offseason.
Offense:
The Cardinals have one of the best running backs in the league. David Johnson is extremely talented in rushing as well as receiving. He had 80 catches for over 800 yards as well as over 1,200 rushing yards last season. I truly believe that he could get even better this year. They also have a solid, yet streaky wide receiver in Larry Fitzgerald. He managed to gain over 1,000 yards with 9 touchdowns anyways, continuing the solid numbers that will eventually get him into the Hall of Fame. Carson Palmer had a bit of an off year, but he will most likely rebound this year to put up another good season. David Johnson has already talked up his improved arm strength this offseason.
Defense:
The Cardinals defense last year was shaky at best, however, they have some promising young players this season. Tyrann Mathieu has already shown he is a very skilled safety. They added Haason Reddick as well as Budda Baker in the draft to help sure up the defense. They also added Antoine Bethea in free agency. Despite their losses, the Cardinals should have a better defensive year than last.
Special Teams:
The Cardinals replaced Chandler Catanzaro with Phil Dawson after Catanzaro had a great deal of difficulty with extra points and field goals in the past two seasons. Dawson should be a tremendous help to the team.
Conclusion:
The Cardinals will likely be a very difficult team to beat with a very solid offense and improved defense. I predict that they will go 11-5 this year and take home the NFC West division title. This should be a good rebound year.
