Three fantasy football TE options to stream in NFL Week 8, including Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ tight end Cade Otton.
It is the bye-pocalypse this week, as six teams are on bye this week. Among those six teams are tight ends, like Trey McBride, Sam LaPorta and Brock Bowers/Michael Mayer. That probably leaves many in a position where they need a spot start this week. You may also have come into the season looking to stream the tight end position after waiting in your draft. If that is the case, you need to pick up one of these options to fill in your lineup for Week 8.
That is where I come in. I am going to give you a couple of tight ends owned in under 60% of ESPN fantasy leagues that have the best matchups to be included among our Week 8 TE fantasy football streamers! When you’re done, check out our Week 8 fantasy football rankings!
Stream These Fantasy Football TE Options in Week 8
Cade Otton vs New Orleans Saints (33.3%)
In last week’s game against the Detroit Lions, Cade Otton established himself as a go-to target for Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense. With Mike Evans set to miss time, Chris Godwin injured and Emeka Egbuka clearly not 100% healthy, Otton is set to reprise his role as a priority receiving option. This week, the Buccaneers take on the New Orleans Saints, who are not a good football team.
On the season, the Saints have given up 7.7 points per game to opposing tight ends. On the season, they have given up 355 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Given that he’s available in two-thirds of leagues, taking a tight end who will be running routes, without a strong receiving corps, and with an MVP contender at quarterback, Otton is a great fantasy football TE streamer in Week 8.

Oronde Gadsden vs Minnesota Vikings (47.8%)
In an offense filled with Keenan Allen, Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey, it was Oronde Gadsden who made his name known to the masses last week. Coming off a 164-yard, one-touchdown performance, Gadsen is in line for another good week. The first thing that comes to mind is that the Chargers are down on the offensive line. That means that tight ends will need to be in to block, meaning Gadsen will be on the field. Last week, he played 79% of the snaps for the Chargers, meaning he is the TE1 in this offense.
This week, the Chargers take on the Vikings on Thursday Night Football. While that may seem tough on paper, I think tight ends can produce against this defense. Brian Flores is known for throwing pressure at the quarterback, so tight ends will be able to sneak behind the linebackers to make easy completions. Justin Herbert should take these easy throws to set up the long ball. The Vikings are giving up just short of six receptions per game to tight ends, so Gadsden will have opportunities to make plays in this game.
Mason Taylor vs Cincinnati Bengals (27.5%)
The final fantasy football TE streamer for Week 8 is someone that we have talked about multiple times in the past. The Jets are likely moving forward with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback, which will give an instant upgrade at the passer for the receiving corps. Taylor is not known for taking the risky shots, so Mason Taylor will be available to be that safe throw. The Jets will be able to move the ball against the Bengals, like the Steelers did last week. In order to do that, Mason Taylor will be involved.
The Bengals have been horrible against opposing tight ends this season as well. We saw Aaron Rodgers and Pat Freiermuth/Jonnu Smith dominate them last week. Cincinnati is dead last in fantasy points given up to opposing tight ends, at 14.3 points per game. On the season, the Bengals have given up 536 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns to tight ends. If Garrett Wilson is limited whatsoever, Mason Taylor is the number one receiving option in this Jets offense, which can’t be said about many tight ends on the waiver wire.
