Quick answer: Start Germie Bernard as a WR2/WR3 in Week 7, with the biggest boost in PPR. The FlurrySports Playbook ranks him WR21 in PPR and WR23 in half-PPR this week. With Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson on injured reserve, the Steelers rookie has played 92% and 94% of Pittsburgh’s snaps the last two weeks and drawn 21 targets. The Saints matchup is middle-of-the-pack, but his role is what makes him a starter.

Germie Bernard Fantasy Week 7 Outlook: Start or Sit vs Saints?

Germie Bernard’s 2026 Season So Far

The Steelers took Bernard in the second round (47th overall) out of Alabama. For the first month he was a depth receiver. Then injuries hit Pittsburgh’s receiver room and his role exploded.

5vs. IND92%930.0%680014.4
6at TB94%1227.3%1187125.7

His season totals of 24 catches, 227 yards and one touchdown understate what he is now. Over the last two games, he’s been an every-down receiver with a target share of 27% to 30%. His Week 6 line of 11 catches on 12 targets for 87 yards and his first NFL touchdown made him the WR3 for the week.

Track his week-to-week usage in the FlurrySports Playbook’s Snap Share and Opportunity Index tools.

Why Bernard’s Role Changed: Steelers WR Injuries

Pittsburgh’s receiver room has been gutted:

  • Michael Pittman Jr. went on injured reserve before Week 5. Bernard stepped into his role and led the team in targets in his first start.
  • Roman Wilson left Week 5 with a hand injury and has since gone on injured reserve.
  • Ben Skowronek was ruled out for Week 6.

That leaves Bernard and DK Metcalf as Aaron Rodgers’ top two targets. It’s a valuable spot, because Pittsburgh throws on 67.2% of its plays, the second-highest pass rate in the NFL. The Steelers also run 62.5 plays per game (12th), so there’s plenty of volume to go around.

The Playbook’s Opportunity Index ranks Bernard 47th among WRs in targets per game (5.3) for the season. That number is dragged down by Weeks 1, 3 and 4, before the injuries opened his role. His season average snap share of 56% hides the same thing: over his last three games it’s 75.3%, and it’s been above 90% since Pittman went down.

The Matchup: A Neutral Draw, With Red Zone Upside

The Steelers and Saints play at Stade de France in Paris, with kickoff at 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday. Pittsburgh is a 3-point favorite, and the game total is 44.5.

By the Playbook’s numbers, the Saints are a middle-of-the-road matchup for receivers:

  • 32.0 PPR points per game allowed to WRs, 17th most in the NFL (26.4 in half-PPR, 16th)
  • 30.8 PPR points per game to WRs over the last four weeks
  • 17.8 targets, 11.2 catches and 149.7 yards per game allowed to the position
  • 2.2 catches of 20+ yards per game allowed

The bigger opening is in the red zone. New Orleans allows 4.7 red-zone trips per game, the most in the NFL, and opponents score touchdowns on 64.3% of those trips. Pittsburgh’s offense ranks only 24th in red-zone trips (2.7 per game), so this matchup should get the Steelers inside the 20 more often than usual. Bernard has 6 red-zone targets this season, 18th among all WRs.

The Saints also rank 6th-worst in opponent third-down conversion rate (44.6%). Bernard has been the chain-mover underneath, and third downs are where a slot receiver gets fed.

Paris Weather: Wind Could Shape the Game Plan

The FlurrySports Playbook Weather forecast for Stade de France calls for 61 degrees, mostly clear skies and 16.5 mph winds out of the west-northwest. Wind that strong tends to cut into deep passing and kicking.

That actually suits Bernard. His average depth of target is just 5.3 yards, so he’s Rodgers’ quick-release option. If the wind keeps the Steelers from pushing the ball downfield to Metcalf, more of the short-area volume could flow to Bernard.

The Risks: What Could Go Wrong?

Short targets mean a lower ceiling. Bernard averages 7.1 yards per target. He has to catch a lot of passes to put up big numbers, and he has zero end-zone targets this season, which ranks 111th among WRs in the Playbook’s Paydirt tool.

DK Metcalf is still the alpha. Metcalf had a season-high 15 targets in Week 6. Bernard is the clear No. 2, but the downfield and end-zone looks run through Metcalf.

The role has a timer. Pittman and Wilson will come back eventually. Bernard’s snaps are safe for now, but his playing time could shrink once the room gets healthy.

Pass protection. Rodgers has been sacked 19 times in six games, and the Saints’ edge rushers, Chase Young and Carl Granderson, can wreck drives. Pressure tends to mean quick throws, though, which is Bernard’s game.

Germie Bernard Touchdown Odds: The Prop Angle

Bernard’s anytime touchdown is a long-shot play. The red-zone setup is real: New Orleans allows the most red-zone trips in the NFL, and Bernard ranks 18th among WRs in red-zone targets. But he has just one touchdown, no end-zone targets and only one opportunity inside the 10 this season. The value is in the price, not a high probability.

On Kalshi, you can bet $10 to win $31.76 on Bernard scoring a touchdown.

Rest-of-Season Outlook: Add Him, Then Ride the Schedule

Bernard is No. 2 on the FlurrySports Playbook Waiver Wire board and rostered in only 44.4% of leagues. If he’s available, add him.

His trade value is climbing fast. In the Playbook’s Trade Value Chart, Bernard’s value jumped 9.5 points this week to 19.7, making him the WR34 and No. 78 overall. Want to see what that buys in a trade? Run it through our Trade Calculator.

The schedule is a big part of why he’s worth holding. According to the Playbook’s Strength of Schedule tool, Pittsburgh’s remaining WR opponents average a 13.7 rank in points allowed to the position, which leans favorable.

(Rank 1 = the defense that allows the most points to WRs.)

Weeks 11, 13 and 14 stand out: Philadelphia, Houston and Jacksonville all rank top five in points allowed to WRs. If Bernard holds his role into that stretch, he’s a legitimate fantasy playoff weapon.

Germie Bernard Fantasy Week 7 FAQ

Should I start Germie Bernard in Week 7?

Yes. The FlurrySports Playbook ranks him WR21 in PPR and WR23 in half-PPR this week. He’s played over 90% of Pittsburgh’s snaps the last two games.

Is Germie Bernard a waiver-wire pickup?

Yes. He’s No. 2 on the FlurrySports Playbook Waiver Wire board and rostered in 44.4% of leagues.

Why is Germie Bernard getting more targets?

Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson are both on injured reserve, which moved Bernard into a full-time role as the Steelers’ No. 2 receiver behind DK Metcalf.

What is the weather for Steelers vs. Saints?

The game is at Stade de France in Paris. The forecast calls for 61 degrees, mostly clear skies and 16.5 mph winds.

When is the Steelers’ bye week?

Week 9. Pittsburgh plays the Saints in Week 7 and the Browns in Week 8 before the bye.

Final Verdict: Should I Start or Sit Germie Bernard in Week 7?

The Saints matchup is neutral, but Bernard’s role is not. He’s playing 90%+ of the snaps on the NFL’s second-most pass-heavy offense, the wind should keep the passing game short, and the Saints allow more red-zone trips than any team in football. Start him as a WR2/WR3 in Week 7, with a bump in PPR leagues.
