Overreactions to NFL Week 2 – Ja’Marr Chase Sucks, Eagles Are Doomed

We have two Monday Night Football games to close out NFL Week 2 tonight, but that doesn’t mean we need to bite our tongue until tomorrow. No, it’s Overreaction Monday, dammit!

Every single Monday here at FlurrySports is reserved for Overreaction Monday since that is what the rest of the talking heads in the industry will be doing today.

While many fans and analysts overreact in earnest, we should make it clear that this article is mostly for fun and to poke fun at the people who are swayed by the last thing they see. That isn’t to say we don’t believe any of these overreactions, however. Additionally, I will post on Twitter every single week looking for your Overreaction Monday thoughts as well, so follow me and bring the heat for next week!

The Eagles are making a case to be Superbowl 58 contenders. They have a complete enough team to do it. https://t.co/12Sptqqzfo

    Overreactions to NFL Week 2

Eagles Are the Future Super Bowl Champs

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off NFL Week 2 with a win, and the reigning NFC Champions shut up a struggling Vikings team to do it. The six-point win showcased absolutely everything — a dominant running game, Jalen Hurts’ arm, mental lapses to let the opponent back in the game, luck that resulted in multiple brain-dead plays and self-imposed mistakes by Minnesota.

Truly, the 2-0 Philadelphia Eagles may never lose again, and it’s why they were atop our NFL Power Rankings last week.

    AJ Brown concern is legit?

    — YAWN (@YawnyStick) September 17, 2023

    Philadelphia Eagles Are Doomed

The Philadelphia Eagles are doomed (see what we’re doing here?). The Eagles were dominating on the ground and playing with a lead. Yet, AJ Brown showcased his ability to be a diva wide receiver on the sidelines, as he gave Jalen Hurts an earful. It resulted in some deep targets for him, but at four catches for 29 yards, did Brown do anything to help Philadelphia win? If he doesn’t get a touchdown and a warm bottle the next game, will he destroy a kicking net?

The Bears are going to get the first overall pick again in the draft after an offseason saying the rebuild was ready to compete. 😂#NFL #DaBears https://t.co/yIyvmFg4g1

    The Bears Still Suck

No, this heading is not part of Overreaction Monday, obviously, but declaring the Chicago Bears as the worst team in the NFL two seasons in a row is the take here. Chicago wants absolutely nothing to do with Justin Fields‘ legs. They yearn for the days of Jay Cutler ripping cigs between interceptions thrown, and they’re trying to replicate it with Fields.

At their current state, the Bears look like they will be picking Caleb Williams first overall next season. If it happens, I’ll bet they sit him behind Fields so he can see what it takes to be the quarterback of a franchise like the Chicago Bears.

    Ja'Marr Chase is cooked.

    — Brett Ford (@FadeThatMan) September 18, 2023

    Ja’Marr Chase Sucks

Through two games, Ja’Marr Chase has a whopping 70 receiving yards while the Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2 with two divisional losses. We have not seen such as steep decline for a 23-year-old before, but it’s safe to say he’s about done. Some may say the Bengals have too much talent that needs to be paid, but after two weeks, we now know one bust who can be chased out of town.

Maybe the Bengals could offer the Lions Ja’Marr Chase and a first-round pick for Josh Reynolds.

    Brandon Staley should be fired

    — @jachsports (@Jachary3) September 17, 2023

    Brandon Staley Isn’t Fire Yet?

For last week’s Overreaction Monday in the NFL, we already said Brandon Staley should be fired. The Chargers didn’t do it, so he forced us to put this point on repeat. While we all know Staley is a big doofus who shouldn’t have a head coaching job at any level of sports, we’ll take this overreaction one step further. Justin Herbert doesn’t have “it.” Sorry about it.

Joe Barry is the worst coordinator in NFL history and his continued employment is the biggest indictment on Matt LaFleur #overreactionmonday

    — Jonathan Diel ➡️ CCE (@RealDielCosplay) September 17, 2023

Additionally, another coach who shouldn’t have kept his job this offseason is Joe Barry, the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. He too is a big, dumb doofus whose playsheet is written in green crayon. Barry is so bad that Packer “owners” are turning on their clueless head coach as well.
