The 2021 NFL Trade Deadline is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2. This means there are only a few days left for teams to make a move in order to position themselves with the best possible team to make a Super Bowl push. While the Los Angeles Rams do not look like a team positioned to be sellers, it was recently announced that they would be looking for DeSean Jackson trade partners.
Supposedly, this is a mutual decision by both parties to seek a trade. For the Rams, they have a few talented, young wide receivers buried on the depth chart. For Jackson, he likely feels he has more to give than eight receptions on the year.
So, with this in mind, let’s take a look at three possible DeSean Jackson trade destinations ahead of the 2021 NFL Trade Deadline.

Indianapolis Colts
This is a trade that benefits both sides, and it involves a Marlon Mack trade as well, which we have discussed in a previous article. Currently, the Rams are led by the 5-8, 208-pound Darrell Henderson in the backfield. He shouldn’t be a bell cow, given his build and injury history. Behind him is Sony Michel, who hasn’t impressed anyone during his NFL career. Trading for Mack would create a much stronger committee.
As for the Colts, they are in desperate need of receiving talent, especially if T.Y. Hilton continues to struggle with injuries. This is a team that was in the market for a wide receiver this offseason and inexplicably didn’t make a move. Landing Julio Jones would have been perfect, but they let their division rivals get him.
While a DeSean Jackson trade at the NFL Trade Deadline doesn’t magically make this receiving corps great, he is a receiver that the defense must respect whenever he is on the field, and it will open up space underneath in the passing and running games. It’s also noteworthy that Carson Wentz has had past success with Jackson.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are in a position to compete right now, with a solid overall team. Their offense features a strong “big three” of Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. While most teams have a drop-off after their starting talent, the drop in talent level, experience and trust is even more drastic for the Chargers’ wide receiver corps. A DeSean Jackson trade would add another strong weapon without needing to change their offense at all. Simply, he would come in and either see deep targets or draw attention away from their playmakers.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have already gotten in on the NFL Trade Deadline action. They made a trade to bring back veteran running back Mark Ingram. That’s great and all, but it’s time to address the receiving corps, which is a clear area of weakness. They don’t have a true WR1 right now. And even when Michael Thomas returns 1) we don’t know how good he will be, and 2) they will have a weakness at WR2.
Change the offense to fit the skill set of your quarterback. With Jameis Winston’s big arm, the Saints need a strong deep threat like Jackson, who also has past success with Winston.
