Tonight we have a nicely-sized seven-game slate to satisfy our NBA DFS needs. I love these types of slates because it really diversifies lineups and forces people to build a complete roster. When we have two or three mega values it really cuts down on the player pool. It seems DraftKings has also tightened up their player pricing after last week. This should also help lower the lineup point totals across the board. Let’s get into some nice tournament pivots from their chalky counterparts.
DraftKings NBA DFS Core Plays | Feb. 15
Clint Capela (C – $7,400)
When scrolling through the pricing this morning, I immediately saw how cheap DraftKings had Capela. He was $9,400 three weeks ago. I love to buy low on a player before the field catches on. When Young and Capela are on the court together this season, Capela averages 1.48 FPPM. His minutes are volatile but that should only strengthen his GPP leverage. He has 6-8x value capability at this price.
Buddy Hield (SG/SF – $6,800)
Hield came out last night and laid a huge stinky mess. He went 1 for 11 from the floor and only scored 16.5 DK points. The last time he did this he came out the next game and went 7 for 18 and put up 36.25 DK points. The inconsistency is definitely a factor with Hield. However, he has been getting anywhere from 32-39 minutes per game.
Coby White (PG/SG – $6,200)
If you want to jump on the Lou Williams train, then all aboard. I will not fault you for doing so. I will have quite a bit of DFS exposure to him. However, if Lou has a bad shooting night it is likely that his fantasy production suffers mightily. Same here with Coby White. He does get a few peripheral stats and can shoot the lights out when he is on. Add in the fact that he won’t see Jimmy Butler defense like Lou Williams and maybe I can convince you to get some Coby exposure.
Cedi Osman (SF/PF – $3,300)
I fully expect the Cavs to get blown out again tonight. They also have one of the worst defensive efficiency ratings in the league. Long story short, they are not good at defense. In cases like this we can feel a little more confident rostering bench players. In a similar situation last night, Osman played just over 24 minutes. He put up 20 real points and chucked up 12 shots while shooting six freethrows. While this type of outburst is not sustainable long-term, we can certainly play the blowout narrative and hope he rides that confidence from last night in his garbage minutes.
I’m well aware of the popular plays in John Wall, Bam Adebayo, Lou Williams, Darius Garland, Nerlens Noel, Serge Ibaka, etc. This article is just meant to put a different spin on things for you and keep your mind thinking a little differently. I find it helps us grow as DFS players versus falling into the trap of playing a bad player just because they are a popular play for the day.
If you use this NBA DFS core of players, it will give you an average of $5,420 per player for your remaining roster spots. It should give you enough wiggle room to go in almost any direction in the mid-tier.
