Taking a look at the best Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool Picks, including the Green Bay Packers.
If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Green Bay Packers vs Cincinnati Bengals
The Green Bay Packers enter Week 6 as the only team favored by a double-digit point spread. With Cincinnati being given 14.5 points, it is no secret that the expectation is that Green Bay wins and they win big in this spot. I would imagine that a lot of that revolves around the Bengals’ problems on offense. Without Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ passing game has struggled. While the quarterback play has been well documented, what is kind of falling under the radar is how bad this Bengals offensive line is, which in turn does not give the team any sort of run game.
Now, to help fix those issues, the Bengals are bringing in Joe Flacco. The veteran is coming in on short notice to learn an offense in anticipation of a game against one of the better teams in the NFL. Partner all of that with Green Bay having one of the better pass rushes in the NFL, and things will not be good for the Bengals’ offense on Sunday.
When we look at the Packers’ offense, we know that Matt LaFleur wants to run the football. Jordan Love is able to settle in and make those consistent, high-level throws when the run game is working. The run game for Green Bay has not really clicked yet this year. We saw some vision of it against the Cowboys, and I am expecting that to continue. Cincinnati has not been great against the run this season, and after two disappointing finishes for Green Bay, it feels like this is a get-back-to-basics week and destroy the much inferior opponent to get the vibes back up.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns
Don’t look now, but Aaron Rodgers has the Pittsburgh Steelers on top of the AFC North in what many people thought was the toughest division in football coming into the year. Coming off a bye, the Steelers matchup with the Cleveland Browns as 5.5-point favorites. This is the classic matchup of an all-time legend matching up with a rookie, in Aaron Rodgers and Dillon Gabriel. The obvious advantage is in Rodgers’ favor. What has worked well for the Browns this season has been their run defense, but how much does that really matter in this game? The Steelers have not had a consistent run game all season long. With the Browns’ emphasis on stopping the run, the Steelers will have ample opportunities to hit short, quick passes, something that we know Rodgers will take every play. Sooner or later, those quick routes will open DK Metcalf up to beat the Browns over the top.
Even though the Steelers’ defense has not been great this year, they do get an opportunity to flex their muscles against a Browns offense that does not really scare you. With Gabriel at quarterback, Pittsburgh needs to do everything that it can to get TJ Watt to hunt him down and make him uncomfortable early. The rookies are bound to make some mistakes, which is something that you cannot do with Rodgers starting on the other side.

Las Vegas Raiders vs Tennessee Titans
The Las Vegas Raiders enter the Week 6 matchup with the Tennessee Titans as 3.5-point favorites. In a matchup between two of the worst teams in the NFL, I think the Raiders get the slight edge in this game. At this point in the season, the Titans should be winless if the Cardinals played any sort of competent football in the second half of last week’s game. The Tennessee Titans have several problems that probably should have been addressed in the NFL Draft as opposed to selecting a quarterback who is not going to be put into a position to succeed. I think that the Raiders can exploit those issues.
Ashton Jeanty has started to break out in his rookie season and has given a spark to this Raiders offense. I might be the only person who still believes in Geno Smith, but when he is not throwing interceptions, he is very effective in the pass game. The key for the Raiders will be getting out to a lead early and making the Titans play from behind. These are two not very good teams, but with that being said, I am taking the better of the two in this matchup.
