Taking a look at the best Week 16 NFL Survivor Pool Picks, including the Houston Texans.
We’re down to the final few weeks of the season, and we have a few good teams left to use in our survival pool! If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 16 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad.

Houston Texans vs Las Vegas Raiders
The Houston Texans open the week as 14-point favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders, which is by far the biggest spread of the weekend. As it stands, the Texans are currently slotted into the two-seed in the AFC South and the seventh seed overall in the AFC Playoff picture. That means that this game against the Las Vegas Raiders is a must-win if they want to keep that spot in the playoff picture, as well as compete with the Jaguars in the division. What the Texans have going for them in this game is the incredible matchup against the Raiders. Currently in the midst of a six-game winning streak, the Texans offense has been playing great football and with a lackluster defense on the schedule, I expect that to continue. Outside of Maxx Crosby, there is nothing that scares you on this Raiders defense, so keeping the focus on stopping him will be the key to moving the football.
I think the Texans’ biggest advantage is on defense. For whatever my money is worth, the Raiders have the worst offensive line in the entire NFL. With Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson on the other side, whoever is starting at quarterback for the Raiders this week might actually die. If, for whatever reaso,n that quarterback has time to throw the ball, Jalen Pitre, Derek Stingley and Azeez Al-Shaair are as good as anyone at their positions to make plays.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Washington Commanders
At this point in the season, it is a little difficult to label a team as having great value. With the definition of a “value pick” being a middle-level team that has a great matchup, we have to distinguish who middle-level teams are. The issue is that, through 15 weeks, it feels like teams are either good or they are bad. Right? They are either in the playoffs or out, so for this week, I am cheating a little bit and taking a good team that has had a couple of tough weeks. Give me the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Washington Commanders . The Eagles were able to snap their three-game losing streak with a shutout victory over the Raiders last week, and they looked a little closer to the team that we saw dominate down the stretch last season. They get another chance to do the same this week with a great matchup.
The Commanders are down in the dumps. Their dream to get back to the NFC Championship is over, and their franchise guy, Jayden Daniels, is out for the season. I am a big Marcus Mariota fan, but when it comes to the vibes surrounding the team, they are surely bad. That is where Philadelphia can step in and take advantage. This Washington defense is not very good, to say the least. They lack true game-changing players, so Philadelphia will be able to move the ball with ease in this one. Injuries have hampered offensive line play, but even so, I think this is a game Saquon Barkley can get going and look similar to what we know him as. Looking back at last week, Jalen Hurts did a great job getting everyone on the offense involved. AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert were the two main recipients in the red zone, but when it comes to looking ahead to the playoffs, why not get everyone on the same page?

New Orleans Saints vs New York Jets
In what looks to be the matchup of two of the worst teams in the NFL, the New Orleans Saints open the week as 4.5-point favorites over the New York Jets. That has to do with the Saints playing great football as of late. In the NFC South, if either the Panthers or the Buccaneers had beaten the Saints over the past two weeks, they would have had a great advantage moving forward in the playoff chase. Instead, the Saints nutted up and are currently on a two-game win streak. While the Saints don’t have the greatest offense of all time by any means, their defense has actually been playing really well. They have only given up 30+ points to the Bills, Seahawks and Rams, three top-seven teams in the NFL this season. The issue for them this season is that the offense has not been able to keep.
Now, they get a matchup with the New York Jets, whose defense is not nearly as good as it was in recent memory. Without Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, there is not much that really scares you on this Jets defense. The Saints will be able to run the ball well in this game, and Tyler Shough will be able to settle in and continue to develop into that franchise changer that the Saints so desperately need.
