Kicking off the late afternoon window on NFL Sunday this week is a cross-conference matchup between the Washington Football Team and Las Vegas Raiders. Washington Football Team Preview

Taylor Heinicke led the Washington Football Team to a third consecutive win on Monday Night Football last week. After springing a pair of NFL betting upsets over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers in the two weeks prior, Washington held on to knock off the sputtering Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Despite still being a game under .500 in the standings, Ron Rivera’s club is currently in a position to qualify for the postseason as the 7-seed. Stop me when a sub-.500 Washington team making the playoffs sounds familiar.

Heinicke continues to perform admirably in his bid to convince Washington he is worth keeping around beyond this season. The former UDFA got some help from Antonio Gibson and the ground game last week as well. The loss of J.D. McKissic during the Week 12 NFL betting matchup to injury could set Gibson up for an expanded role against the Raiders. Meanwhile, Washington’s defense has completely turned things around after a brutal start to the season. Despite losing star pass-rusher Chase Young to a season-ending injury two weeks ago, Jack Del Rio’s unit hasn’t skipped a beat. The Football Team has now held three of their last four opponents under 20 points.

Las Vegas Raiders Preview

In a major NFL betting upset, the Raiders went out and took down the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Las Vegas and kept them afloat in the crowded AFC West race. After the offense looked lifeless two weeks ago in a blowout loss at home, Derek Carr and the Raiders responded big time on Turkey Day. Carr nearly threw for 400 yards and continues to lead the NFL in passing yardage through the first 12 weeks. The fact that he had such a big game last Thursday despite losing tight end Darren Waller to an injury early on makes it all the more impressive. Look for Foster Moreau to fill in for Waller who will be sidelined in Sunday’s NFL betting tilt.

Unfortunately, the Raiders offense will likely need to be as good as it was on Thanksgiving in order for Las Vegas to compete down the stretch of the season. Injuries and a lack of general depth have left the Raiders’ defense in shambles. Although veteran cornerback Casey Hayward Jr. has come in and done a nice job, there is very little around him in the secondary. Las Vegas ranks 25th in adjusted pass defense entering Week 13. It will be critical for pass-rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Maxx Crosby to generate pressure against a vulnerable Washington offensive line on Sunday.
