Alright everyone, this is it! Buckle up for the most highly-anticipated NBA Play-In Tournament matchup — LeBron James vs Steph Curry. Defending champions vs a dynasty that isn’t ready to die just yet. Who will win? This NBA betting preview for the Warriors vs Lakers matchup will provide game info, betting trends, odds and a prediction for this NBA play-in matchup.

Warriors vs Lakers Betting Preview and Prediction | NBA Play-In Tournament

Golden State Warriors (39-33, 14-22 Away) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (42-30, 21-15 Home)
    Date: Wednesday, May 19th, 2021
    Time: 10 pm EST
Venue: Staples Center- Los Angeles, CA
    Coverage: ESPN

The Warriors are led by Steph Curry, who joined Michael Jordan as the only other player to win the NBA scoring title (32.0 points per game) at 33 years or older. Curry has had a season that rivaled his two MVP seasons, and he did it without Klay Thompson or Kevin Durant by his side. Can Curry cook against the defending champions, earn the Warriors’ seventh straight victory and a date with the Phoenix Suns in round one of the NBA Playoffs?

The Los Angeles Lakers struggled to keep up with the top teams in the Western Conference without Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Now on a five-game winning streak, and with the Lakers’ dynamic duo back and ready for playoff action, all teams should be worried about facing off with the defending champions. But maybe the Lakers need to fear their first NBA Play-In Tournament opponent, the Golden State Warriors. This will clearly have a playoff atmosphere tonight, after the media has been hyping this matchup up for a while.

    • Golden State is 6-0 SU in its last six games.
    • The Lakers are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games.
    • Los Angeles Lakers are 5-0 SU in their last five games.
    • The Lakers are 4-1 SU in their last five games at home.

    Warriors vs Lakers Prediction

This NBA prediction uses NumberFire’s probability model. They give Los Angeles a 74.6% chance to win this Western Conference play-in game, which would give them a ticket to the NBA Playoffs.

Home court advantage will be at play tonight. Both the Warriors and Lakers deserve to be in the NBA Playoffs, and I am sure the NBA will find a way to make that happen. However, it is more likely they give the reigning champs a brief break. The Warriors are much worse on the road this season, with only a 14-22 record ATS. They’re also 17-23 ATS as an underdog. Expect the Lakers to win and cover tonight, then it will be the Warriors’ turn when they play in Chase. — Zach Brunner
