Minnesota Vikings Preview

Week 1 ended in disappointment for the Vikings. After rallying in the fourth quarter to send their opener against the Cincinnati Bengals into overtime, Minnesota surrendered a game-winning field goal in the extra period. After being short NFL betting favorites for that game, the Vikings now find themselves on the other side of the spectrum for this Week 2 tilt. While the offense showed an ability to move the ball last week, Minnesota struggled to contain the bevy of pass-catchers in the Bengals’ offense.

Although it ended in a loss, Kirk Cousins put together a very impressive Week 1 stat line. The veteran QB finished with 351 yards passing and two scores. Both touchdowns were caught by Adam Thielen, who had nine total receptions for 92 yards. Given that the Vikings were trailing for much of the game, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see the passing stats inflated. In fact, Cousins finished with a whopping 49 pass attempts. Defensively, the Vikings were at least able to apply pressure, leading to five total sacks as a team.

Arizona Cardinals Preview

Despite going off as an NFL betting underdog on the road for their season-opener, the Cardinals looked like anything but. Arizona dismantled the Tennessee Titans 38-13 in Week 1. They quickly jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. It was easily one of the most surprising outcomes of the weekend. Of course, when you have Chandler Jones registering five sacks on his own, you have to like your chances when it comes to the result of the game itself.

The Cardinals’ defense was supremely impressive in shutting down a loaded Titans offensive attack. Not to be outdone, Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those went to star wideout DeAndre Hopkins, who finished with 83 yards on six receptions. The other two went to Christian Kirk, while rookie Rondale Moore also had a strong NFL debut. Running backs Chase Edmonds and James Conner combined to eclipse 110 yards rushing as well.
