Both the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals are teams loaded with talent. However, both teams also have obvious holes that opponents have been able to exploit. While this cross-conference battle doesn’t have as high of stakes as other Week 1 matchups, both teams would still like to start the year with a win. So, who will prevail in this Vikings vs Bengals NFL betting matchup?

The following Vikings vs Bengals NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends and picks for the Week 1 matchup.

Vikings vs Bengals Week 1 NFL Betting Preview

NFL Regular Season — Week 1 Game
Minnesota Vikings (0-0, 0-0 Away) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (0-0, 0-0 Home)
Date: Sunday, September 12, 2021
Time: 1:00 p.m. EST
Venue: Paul Brown Stadium — Cincinnati, OH
Coverage: FOX

The Vikings were one of the teams to suffer a serious injury in the preseason. Starting tight end Irv Smith Jr. was supposed to have a breakout year after the team let Kyle Rudolph go. Unfortunately, knee surgery will likely keep him out for the season. The team still has a dangerous trio of Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen on offense. On defense, this is still a unit with holes, but they should be improved from last season. They went out and signed two veteran cornerbacks to start for them, which could prove to be two of the best moves of the offseason, if they pan out.

The Bengals made the smart decision to listen to their starting quarterback and value his decision during the draft process (take notes, Packers). Unfortunately, Joe Burrow wanted his friend and wide receiver to be the team’s first choice, instead of the team drafting one of the best offensive line prospects in quite some time. In other words, it may be another season of Burrow getting smacked around and garnering Andrew Luck comparisons for all the wrong reasons. Defensively, this Bengals team is underrated. They have playmakers, but depth could prove to be an issue, especially with an added game this season.
