Tetairoa McMillan Scouting Profile
Strengths
At 6-4, the first thing you notice when looking at Tetairoa McMillan is his size. While he has made a great college career being somewhat of a possession receiver, he has shown the ability to out-jump defenders on jump balls. McMillan’s size allows him to play receiver like a basketball player going up for a rebound. Even with his size, McMillan has shown a penchant for shifting and controlling his body to make unbelievable catches.
When the play breaks down or the quarterback rolls outside of the pocket, McMillan works to find open space and does not give up on his routes or the play in general. When given open space, McMillan’s long strides oftentimes allow him to outpace defenders.
Weaknesses
As is the case with many receivers with great size, McMillan’s routes-running suffers at times. He needs to crisp up cuts on horizontal-breaking routes. McMillan relies too much on his size when trying to work through press coverage and will get caught up with physical defensive backs. While running after the catch, McMillan does not show you anything to suggest that he will be able to break tackles consistently.
