Spain vs Costa Rica World Cup Prediction and Betting Picks
In 2018, Spain had their high aspirations snuffed out by Russia in the Round of 16 in a game littered with controversy over the officiating. It was better than in 2014 when the defending champion Spain team failed to qualify for the knockout stages, but it was still a disappointment. Now, in a group that again shouldn’t give them much trouble, Spain is primed for another deep run.
Costa Rica, on the other hand, barely made it into the 2022 World Cup. After winning just one of their first seven qualifying matches, Costa Rica won six of their last seven before defeating New Zealand in a playoff for the final spot. Although there isn’t much talent on the roster overall, they do have the services of one of the best goalkeepers in the world — Keylor Navas.
Spain is simply much better than Costa Rica and Keylor Navas will only be able to do so much on his own. They should be able to win this game, but Costa Rica is a scrappy team that shouldn’t be underestimated. Spain will likely pull away to a comfortable win but it may take them longer than expected.
