It’s a full Tuesday of MLB action with all 30 teams scheduled to be in action. The national TV doubleheader on ESPN features a pair of National League matchups. The late game will see the Cincinnati Reds take on the San Francisco Giants. The game marks the second of a three-game set in the Bay Area. The MLB betting oddsmakers have set the moneyline about as evenly as it gets for what should be a great ball game.

Reds vs Giants MLB Betting Overview
Reds Outlook
The Reds have baseball fans in the Queen City buzzing thanks to a hot start to the MLB betting season. After dropping the final two games of their weekend series to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati rebounded with a 3-0 shutout of the Giants last night. It was an impressive win for the Reds in that they showed they have the pitching to complement the top scoring offense in the MLB. Wade Miley and Tejay Antone combined to pitch 8 ⅔ of the nine innings with just two hits and two walks allowed between them.
Luis Castillo draws the start for the Reds tonight. After a rough first outing, Castillo rebounded with seven shutout innings in his second start against the Pittsburgh Pirates last week to earn his first win of the year. Nick Castellanos has been the sparkplug offensively for Cincinnati through the first ten games. Fellow outfielder Tyler Naquin is tied for the early-season lead in home runs with five.
Giants Outlook
Tonight marks the fifth of a six-game homestand for the Giants. After sweeping the NL West rival Colorado Rockies over the weekend, last night’s shutout loss was a tough pill to swallow. San Francisco will need to muster more than two hits tonight if they are to keep up with the Reds. The ageless Buster Posey was responsible for one of the team’s two hits in last night’s loss.
Kevin Gausman will be on the bump to start for the Giants tonight. Despite failing to record his first win of the year, the 30-year-old has looked sharp thus far. He has allowed just seven hits and two runs across 13.2 innings of work in his first two starts. A 1.32 ERA is joined by 12 strikeouts in forming an impressive early-season line. The Giants have needed pitching performances like that to build their record up to 6-4, seeing how their scoring offense is at the opposite end of the MLB betting ranks compared to the Reds.

Reds vs Giants Prediction
It’s an interesting clash of styles between the offensive-minded Reds and low-scoring Giants. One need not look any further than the MLB betting trends to the over for both teams through ten games. Although the Reds won last night’s series opener, the game flow was much more in line with the Giants’ tendency to the under. Add in the pitcher-friendly Oracle Park dimensions and we see the under on 7.5 total runs juiced heavily on the MLB betting odds.
I lean under given the stadium and strong pitching matchup. But why lay -120 when you can take the red-hot Reds to win the game at -106? Sure, it’s a road game and the continuation of a west coast trip. But the Reds have the superior offense and arguably the better starter in this matchup. Luis Castillo is the top dog in Cincinnati’s rotation for a reason. I have a hard time believing the anemic San Francisco offense will generate much production tonight. While the under juice is expected, it’s somewhat surprising to see the Giants as the slightest of moneyline favorites.
