WWE RAW Highlights From 3/28

Who Doesn’t Love a Proposal?

The 24/7 Championship scene usually causes me to groan more than laugh, but I did chuckle tonight. Reggie and Dana AND Tozawa and Tamina have now both become engaged. Not only is it hilarious that both teams have fallen in love by trying to run away from each other apparently, but Tozawa called Tamina his “Earth, Wind and Fire.” Even I can admit that’s pretty good. A very dumb storyline, but it made me chuckle so it deserves to be a highlight. Now I’m both parts thrilled and horrified by what the likely wedding ceremonies at WrestleMania will look like.

Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are on Another Level

It could be argued that this main event might be the best WrestleMania has had in terms of scale since Rock vs. Cena. There’s just no substitute for the star power Brock and Reigns are bringing to this match.

Add in the fact that the story has been well told for close to a year and these two always have good chemistry, and this match feels like a perfectly told conclusion to a story. The argument now is who should win, because while Reigns is on top of the world in his current character, Cowboy Brock is doing the best work of his career and is also well-deserving of being champion.

Knowing that Drew McIntyre is probably next for either man means this match is a toss-up, and if their promos on RAW have shown anything it’s that the crowd loves the work of both men right now. A masterpiece is unfolding in maybe the greatest feud of all time to headline WrestleMania.

WWE RAW Lowlights From 3/28

WWE Doesn’t Trust Us To Pay Attention

The constant recaps on RAW from SmackDown are always annoying knowing that 99% of wrestling fans know exactly what happened on WWE programming already or could figure it out. But then tonight, with one of the biggest teases from last week, we didn’t get any new Seth Rollins information. Oh no, instead they showed the exact same social media post that they sent out before noon today. So, what was the point of making the Rollins’ announcement the whole point of tuning into the show if you could find out beforehand anyway?

And by the way, that shocking development for Rollins? Just that he has a match against a mystery opponent. Seriously, we learned nothing new! Why not give people a reason to tune in or just leave it more ambiguous? Instead, we got all but confirmation that it’s going to be Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins, but without seeing any of Cody beforehand or giving either guy a chance to make this match feel like more than just a debut. I think the match/moment of Cody’s debut could be great, but WWE just did this build-up in the weirdest way possible.

Tag Team Disrespect

In a continued effort to make Omos look strong, he was booked to win over both of the Viking Raiders this week in a handicap match. Having one guy bury one of your few former champion tag teams makes no sense, especially when that team is currently getting a push on SmackDown. But WWE tried to make it feel less legit, so they had it be by count-out.

Congratulations WWE, not only do the Viking Raiders look weak now, but they also look stupid. This didn’t leave any room for faith in the Raiders, and you could have had Omos confront Bobby Lashley without any of the Viking Raiders stuff anyway. A terrible booking choice, and it only shows they haven’t had any luck in building Omos so far. Worst of all, Lashley returns from an injury in time for Mania only to be relegated to this lackluster match. An all-around bummer.

WWE Headlines

Multiple sources confirm that Cody Rhodes will face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.

Earlier this week, Triple H announced he is officially retired from in-ring competition following his heart issues this year.

It appears after tonight that the card for WrestleMania is set, most notably perhaps being the confirmation of Stone Cold and Kevin Owens’ confrontation main eventing night one while Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Unified Championship will main event night two.
