The Rams have had an interesting couple of weeks. First, they traded for Von Miller to make their defensive line incredibly scary. He ended up not playing in the game, and they got crushed by the Titans. Then, the Rams won the Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes only to have their WR2, Robert Woods, tear his ACL the following day. They still look like one of the best teams in the NFL this season, and that’s clearly what they are hoping for. They have pushed all of their chips to the center, making this season “Super Bowl or bust.”
The 49ers, on the other hand, are looking like they are about to have their fourth losing season of the Kyle Shanahan era, with his lone winning season being the year he went to the Super Bowl. Shanahan wanted his team to draft Mac Jones, not Trey Lance, and he is acting like it this entire season. The defense no longer scares anyone, the offense lacks creativity and Jimmy Garoppolo is clearly not good enough to overcome these other obstacles. This does feel like a game they could win to mess with everyone, but they are not a good football team.
