    Strengths

Troy Fautanu is such a good athlete on the offensive line. And while his footwork is good enough to stay in front of any edge rusher, any good team will want to move Fautanu to guard due to his size. He has a great lower-body drive, and he fires off of the ball to beat the opposition. His size and flexibility allow him to get under his opponent’s pads, putting him in a great position to win.

    Weaknesses

While Fautanu did show adequate power, this was mostly on the outside, so it is yet to be determined if he can step it up on the interior, where he will likely play. If kept on the outside, Fautanu just doesn’t have the length to consistently compete with the premier edge rushers. He does appear to use his speed and athleticism to win more than his power, and less room to work inside could mean some early struggles for him. Fautanu also can get a bit overaggressive, leading to misses and being out of position.

What to Expect From Troy Fautanu in 2024

Given his size and length, we should expect Troy Fautanu to play guard in 2024. Certainly, his skills suit him best at guard. He will fire off the ball and help to control the line of scrimmage for the Steelers. Yes, every rookie offensive lineman has some struggles early in their career, but this could be increased with the position change. However, as long as his confidence remains where it needs to be, expect Troy Fautanu to be a reliable guard sooner rather than later.
