    San Diego Padres Preview

For as loaded as this San Diego roster became after the addition of Josh Bell, Josh Hader, Juan Soto, and Brandon Drury, they still struggled down the stretch and even fell short of 90 wins. Their performance in the playoffs posed a huge question that was quickly answered in two demolitions of the New York Mets to advance to the NLDS.

The biggest difference between the regular season and the postseason was the play of the lesser-known players on the team. Trent Grisham hit .500 with two homers and three RBI’s along with drawing two walks. Austin Nola hit .444 with two RBIs and an on-base percentage of .500. While the offense will certainly regress, the fact that they aren’t overly reliant on Manny Machado is a great sign. They’ll need that production if they want any chance at beating the Dodgers.

    Los Angeles Dodgers Preview

For what has been the case over the past decade or so, the Los Angeles Dodgers are once again among the heavy favorites this postseason. Even after winning 111 games, most of the eyes seem to be off of the Dodgers this postseason. Quiet simply these Dodgers are one of the most loaded teams of all time. Their roster looks like one of an all-star team and they seem to have no weaknesses either.

Much like the Atlanta Braves, the only thing that looks like it could trip up the Dodgers is rust as they have not played a game in just under a week. An important thing to watch for is Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts. He has made plenty of questionable decisions in the past in the postseason. If he gets in their way again and the Padres to capitalize, this series could come down to the wire.
