If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 8 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”

The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well

Green Bay Packers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Green Bay Packers travel to Jacksonville to take on a poor Jaguars team this week. They open as four-point favorites. Even though the offense struggled at times against the Houston Texans, the Packers as a whole have been playing good football this season. Last week, we saw Green Bay do a great job at taking outside wide receivers away, and I think that is something that we may be able to see again this week.

The Jaguars offense is at its best when they can run the ball (see last week), but that hinges on them scoring and getting up early. The Packers have been really good at coming out of the gates hot this year, as they score 6.7 first-quarter points per game. On offense, Jordan Love continues to move the ball downfield by way of his arm, and with receivers who do so well finding holes in zone coverage, I think we can see another big week for the Packers offense. Looking at who the Packers have beat this season, Green Bay has done a great job winning the games that they should against bad teams.

The Jaguars are a bad team and, if Lawrence can’t get out of the pocket, I think it will be a long game. They also come into this game with a London hangover, as they need to readjust after two weeks across the pond. With Green Bay’s propensity to blitz the passer as of late, I think Lawrence is prone to a few turnovers, which as we have seen has incredibly benefited Green Bay.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

As we saw last week, the Tampa Buccaneers have struggled against the pass this season. In fact, they have given up the third-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks this season, at 1,915. While Atlanta continues to struggle to use Bijan Robinson in the workhorse role that we all want him to be, their pass game can certainly work in this one. While I have not been high on Kyle Pitts throughout his career, this really feels like it can be a Pitts game. Partner that with Drake London’s size advantage and Kirk Cousins should be able to find his way in this game. Darnell Mooney has also been really good this season, which will help to open the run game for Atlanta.

As for Tampa, they will be without their two biggest playmakers on offense this game. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, Baker Mayfield will need to find other places, which could be difficult. Given Sterling Sheppard’s, Trey Palmer’s and Jalen McMillain’s inconsistencies, I can see Mayfield struggling. Partner that with Atlanta having one of the best secondaries in the NFL and I think Atlanta is just the better team in this one.

Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers

Don’t look now, but the Denver Broncos are 4-3 and are second in the AFC West. They have been able to run effectively and should be able to do so in this game. In regards to fantasy football, I am loading up Javonte Williams this week, as the Carolina Panthers have given up the most rushing yards to opposing teams this season, with 1,135. With Bo Nix playing better as of late and using his legs to move the ball this season, the Panthers have two different avenues to stop the run.

As for the Panthers, Bryce Young will start this game, which we all know is not the best-case scenario. I am expecting Young to struggle, as the Broncos still employ one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Broncos have only given up 1,354 passing yards this season to opposing quarterbacks, which ranks the ninth-fewest in the league. There is nothing that really scares you in regards to the Panthers run game, as I am still not a believer in Chuba Hubbard. I do not see the Panthers doing much on offense this week and with Denver’s improved run game, this should be an easy win for the Broncos.
