NFL Power Rankings: Deshaun Watson Gives Fans Something to Cheer For

Bad football continues to plague the NFL, with this past week being among the worst we have seen. Of course, the doom and gloom wasn’t felt in Cleveland, as fans got something to cheer for. In fact, it was so grand that they actually will be risers in the Week 8 NFL Power Rankings.

That right, after Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending injury, Browns fans finally had something to cheer about. But don’t even suggest that Watson is anything other than a “model citizen,” in Myles Garrett’s words. If you were to say anything that isn’t pro-Watson, you may get told that you look like you’re gay, get messaged with death threats, or be reminded that he wasn’t actually found guilty (my Sunday on Twitter). So, screw the people that are Deshaun Watson fans, screw the people who actively cheer about injuries, and screw the Costco Guys (they suck).

NFL Power Rankings For Week 8

1) Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 1)

Win by any means necessary. That is what the Kansas CIty Chiefs are doing this season, which is why they are at the top of the Week 8 NFL Power Rankings, and they are also the only undefeated team remaining. The defense is great. Last year, everyone was saying the Chiefs would be bad because of their offense, and they are saying the same thing now. Trust me, if the offense is the worry, the Chiefs will be just fine.

2) Baltimore Ravens (2)

If not for the idiots defending Deshaun Watson, I would have begun this Week 8 NFL Power Rankings article by talking about Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. If the opposing team cannot stop the pass, they have no shot at stopping the rushing attack either. The reigning MVP passed for five touchdowns in an absolutely dominant performance on Monday.

3) Detroit Lions (3)

The Detroit Lions lost their defensive leader Aidan Hutchinson last week, and his presence was missed. Still, the offense did enough to get the two-point victory over the Minnesota Vikings. This week solidified that the Lions are Super Bowl contenders, so there is a lot of pressure on the GM to go and get at least one more pass rusher. If they do this, then the Lions will remain near the top of these NFL Power Rankings for the rest of the season.

4) Minnesota Vikings (5)

The Minnesota Vikings are no longer undefeated, but a close loss to the Detroit Lions is nothing to hang your head about. If anything, this game legitimized the Vikings a bit more for me, and it proved they were in the right spot in these NFL Power Rankings (despite all you loser fans whining about these rankings last week). The Vikings are good and TJ Hockenson should be back this week, so hopefully things don’t unravel after one loss.

5) Houston Texans (4)

The Houston Texans ended up losing in the final seconds of the game in Lambeau. The offensive line and Houston’s inability to overcome teams that bring the heat is concerning. However, their defense was so beat up this past week, and they will be much better once they are healthier. There is zero reason to panic, especially when they play in the AFC South.

6) San Francisco 49ers (6)

The San Francisco 49ers were about as depleted as they could be in their receiving corps. With Brock Purdy not playing well anyway, this is the worst timing for these injuries and illnesses. San Francisco needs to survive this week, as they will then have a bye week and hopefully have Christian McCaffrey back afterward. However, they will face the Dallas Cowboys coming off of a bye week, so this will be yet another test for a struggling team.

7) Philadelphia Eagles (7)

The sky was falling after the Philadelphia Eagles’ win last week. This week, the fanbase appears to be a bit more calm. The Eagles are a solid team in the NFC and one of the top teams in our NFL Power Rankings. The win over the Giants means almost nothing, but this week’s matchup in Cincinnati will be a nice measuring stick game for both teams.

8) Buffalo Bills (9)

The Buffalo Bills played a bad Tennessee team. Still, the Bills looked fully in control in their win, which is exactly what they needed to do. Buffalo traded for Amari Cooper, giving this team a true top receiving weapon. That should make this offense much better as a whole, and they even got him in the end zone right away.

9) Pittsburgh Steelers (12)

Russell Wilson made his debut as QB1 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it brought mixed results. He is able to get George Pickens involved in the offense, which is the biggest need. If the Steelers can get him on the move and alter his pocket more, he should be good for this team. And, of course, the defense continues to be as tough as can be.

10) Atlanta Falcons (8)

The Atlanta Falcons were unable to generate a pass rush against the Seattle Seahawks, which was the main reason they lost. This is something this team must go out and trade for, and I believe they will since they are going to win the division and make the playoffs anyway. As of now, the lack of a pass rush will be their demise, but if they can find it, this is still a well-rounded football team.

11) Seattle Seahawks (13)

12) Green Bay Packers (14)

13) New York Jets (11)

14) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10)

15) Dallas Cowboys (15)

16) Washington Commanders (16)

17) Chicago Bears (18)
