Taking a look at the top New York Jets draft targets with the 16th pick, including wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.
Once again, the New York Jets underachieved in 2025. How that’s even possible for a franchise that has won more than eight games just once since 2010 is anyone’s guess, but the one thing that remains certain is that the Jets have yet another golden opportunity to turn the franchise around. With two picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, it is as good a time as ever for the franchise to turn it all around and get back on the path to a winning franchise.
While that may seem unlikely given their track record, they have a prime opportunity this year. Here are three New York Jets draft targets for the 16th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
New York Jets Draft Targets at No. 16
Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
The only position the New York Jets may need worse than a linebacker is wide receiver. Outside of Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell, the vast majority of even the most rabid NFL fans couldn’t name another receiver on this team. The Jets’ offense has been a problem for a while now, and that’s thanks in large part to not having a good receiving corps. Luckily, with this 16th overall pick being their second pick in the first round, they have the opportunity to address their receiver issue and linebacker issue early in the draft.
Arguably, the best receiver in this class will likely be available at this spot in Arizona State standout Jordyn Tyson. He’s a receiver with solid size who has great quickness as well. He’s good at gaining separation, has solid hands, and is a problem after the catch, too. While he does have a more lengthy injury history than most teams would like, he is the perfect receiver to pair with Wilson. As long as he can stay on the field, there are a few ways this selection wouldn’t pan out perfectly for the Jets.
Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson
In a shock to absolutely no one, the team that didn’t record a single interception last year needs help in their secondary. Yes, cornerback is among the top New York Jets draft targets. The Jets do deserve some credit for signing Nahshon Wright from the Chicago Bears, but Wright alone is not enough and the Jets know it. Jermod McCoy will likely be off the board at this time, but Avieon Terrell likely will be available, and he may be just as good when all is said and done. The younger brother of Atlanta Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell, Avieon was a standout at Clemson, being named First-team All-ACC last year.
One part of Terrell’s game that jumps off the tape is his ability and willingness to be a factor in run support. He fills gaps correctly and never runs himself out of the play. Even when left alone one-on-one in the open field, you can rely on him to make the tackle. He’s a very athletic player who is a menace in contested catch situations and is always trying to rip the ball loose. Even though he doesn’t bring the ideal size for a cornerback to the NFL, he still fits a huge need for a team that just needs competent play at the position.
Olaivavega Ioane, OG, Penn State
The New York Jets have invested in their offensive line over the last few years, but have yet to reap the rewards of it. They still have an issue at guard, which could easily be solved with the selection of Olaivavega Ioane at 16th overall.
Ioane is a mauler and will absolutely look to not just win, but destroy his matchup every single down. He has a good build for the guard position and is pretty light and athletic on his feet as well. While it may take him a few games to get up to speed at the NFL level, the Jets need a good offensive line to have much of a chance in a loaded AFC East with Geno Smith at the helm. Selecting Ioane would go a long way to making sure whoever is the next franchise quarterback for the Jets doesn’t get injured and ruined before they even have a chance at success.
